Wanting a new tale to read that falls in the realms of the Supernatural ?
Review : The Dark Divine - Bree Despain -2009
For Grace Divine , her family have always been the Pastor's of the church and the ones to set a good example, three years ago something changed though and from that day on her family had changed. Three years ago, a close family friend and the crush of Grace's - Daniel disappeared and from that day on - her family never mentioned his name. Now three-nearly-four years later Daniel has re-appeared and this time he really needs every bit of help he can get as Daniel has hidden a dark secret - he is in fact half an Urbat aka Hell Hound. Desperate for the tables to be turned and to be cured, he seeks out Pastor Divine's help- it is only then that he realises that in order for the cure to even slightly work fingers crossed , it needs to be carried out by somebody who can love him for who he truly is .. that somebody is Grace Divine.
However Grace's older brother Jude is hiding a dark secret of his own - he was bitten and infected by Daniel and is starting to show signs of becoming an hell-hound. Will Jude let Grace save him or will he choose a road of no return and will he take Grace and Daniel with him.
This was one of the best Werewolves/Hell Hounds reads I've read in a wee while as I tend to prefer Vampires over Werewolves.
I'm looking forward to the sequel to be released in Dec/Jan 2010/2011 titled The Lost Saint: A Dark Divine Novel.
Question For Readers :)
In the age old war of Vampires/Werewolves which side are you more likely to take are you a Bloodsucking Gal or a Meat-eater or are you as they say on The Twilight Battle - team Switzerland which in other words is neutral ?
For Me I'm Vampires over Werewolves any day . but thats not to say that I don't enjoy reading about Both .
Wanting a story to get your heartbeats pumping and also learn how to live a little and survive ?
Review : Beyond the Forest - Steve Groll - 2010
Beyond the forest is a patch of land that we like to call "The Dead Forest" , I now wish we hadn't step forth and started playing around and investigating it.
Beyond the Forest is a book that is suited to the YA/Teen Audience and features the stories of characters and best friends Catherine aka Kat and Carter . Out one day on an adventure , the pair come across a forest that is dead , everything surrounding it is dead. They have tried to take pictures and they come back as empty images.
One day while exploring just like any other day . Kat and Carter end up in a storm - they rush to the nearest shelter in time to see a strange man/person screaming at them , another one pops up this time he says he is here to help them.
Kat and Carter soon discover that they are part of a prophecy and have somehow landed in a parallel universe - a different dimension and now with the help of the Guardian , Kat and Carter must travel across the Dead Forest armed with clues and little resources to help save what is Beyond the Dead Forest.
This of course does not turn out to be an easy adventure with a group known as the Adversaries on their backs , can Kat and Carter survive this alternate world or will they be stuck inside forever and will they find themselves heading home alive or dying in the Dead Forest.

Wanting a story set in Regency England with a hint of lustfulness and nudeness ?
Review : Mistress by Design - Sabrina Darby
Whilst searching on the website The Season - Romance , I came across a free download of Mistress by Design which is a short story at 24 pages written by Sabrina Darby and set in the time of regency England , a period that I love and if I could choose to go back in time , It would be one of the periods I would most like to visit with all the courting around etc.
Mistress by Design tells the story of Sarah Leighton whose master if you would call him that , the one whom was her protector and she his mistress has passed away six months ago. Now a new chap and eligible one as well is in town and the rumour is he on the lookout for a new wife/mistress to help him take care of his children and him. Lord Harrison Orville has just returned to England after living in Venezuela as his late wife has also passed away. From first sighting , Sarah is in love or is it lust with Lord Harrison and will partake in a mission to win his affections no matter what.
In Mistress by Design we witness one women's act to earn the love of a man who quite frankly cannot stand her , but has she hit the right buttons as no matter how hard he tries he cannot get her out of his head as the Kylie Minogue song goes "Can't get you outta my head".

We all know the story inside and out of Anne Frank, her family and the Van Pels who stayed hidden in the attic at the beginning of World War II when Hitler was out to kill all Jews but what about the side of the story from Peter, the son of the Van Pels.
Review : Annexed - Sharon Dogar - Sept/Oct 2010
When we think of World War II and the family that hid in the attic , we automatically think of Anne Frank's family but in fact there were two families hidden , the Franks and the Van Pels. Annexed tells the story of the war and what it was like living in the annexe from Peter Van Pel's point of view. At the start of the novel the story focuses on Peter's girlfriend and Margot's friend Liese and we read about how one night Peter snuck out to see Liese and watched from the shadows the Gestapo and MP's take her away in their vehicles. The book then fast forwards to the day the Van Pels moved into the Annexe along with Anne Frank's family. Reading the book it seems like there was a level of superiority between the Franks and the Van Pels with Peter's family being the lesser. We watch over the course of the novel the relationship between Peter and Anne transition from a hate to a love and we read as the pressure of the war and how hard it was to stay hidden from trouble. For Peter Van Pel he was Anne Frank's first and only love as we all know the story of how she died at the age of fifteen . For anyone who has read Anne Frank's diary we know it ended August 4th 1944 , however Annexed takes us beyond that date chronicling Peter's life and experiences as he continues to live past the betrayal and Nazi death camps.
Peter lived until he was 18 and died somewhere between April 11th - May 1945.
Sharon Dogar's Annexed is a wonderful mixture of fact woven into fiction to give it an historically accurate feel.
This is one book that every teen studying World War II and the Holocaust should add to their reading lists.

Romeo and Juliet is a tale that is as old as time , one of Shakespeare's most famous Plays and one that has been remade and retold in many different ways from books , to movie adaptations etc. One of my new favourite movies happens to be Letters to Juliet and I own the Leonardo DiCaprio version of Romeo and Juliet and Im looking forward to watching Gnomeo and Juliet as the Garden Gnomes looked so adorabubble.
Sypnosis : Juliet - Anne Fortier - September 2010
Twenty-five-year-old Julie Jacobs is heartbroken over the death of her beloved aunt Rose. But the shock goes even deeper when she learns that the woman who has been like a mother to her has left her entire estate to Julie’s twin sister. The only thing Julie receives is a key—one carried by her mother on the day she herself died—to a safety-deposit box in Siena, Italy.
This key sends Julie on a journey that will change her life forever—a journey into the troubled past of her ancestor Giulietta Tolomei. In 1340, still reeling from the slaughter of her parents, Giulietta was smuggled into Siena, where she met a young man named Romeo. Their ill-fated love turned medieval Siena upside-down and went on to inspire generations of poets and artists, the story reaching its pinnacle in Shakespeare’s famous tragedy.
But six centuries have a way of catching up to the present, and Julie gradually begins to discover that here, in this ancient city, the past and present are hard to tell apart. The deeper she delves into the history of Romeo and Giulietta, and the closer she gets to the treasure they allegedly left behind, the greater the danger surrounding her—superstitions, ancient hostilities, and personal vendettas. As Julie crosses paths with the descendants of the families involved in the unforgettable blood feud, she begins to fear that the notorious curse—“A plague on both your houses!”—is still at work, and that she is destined to be its next target. Only someone like Romeo, it seems, could save her from this dreaded fate, but his story ended long ago. Or did it?
From Anne Fortier comes a sweeping, beautifully written novel of intrigue and identity, of love and legacy, as a young woman discovers that her own fate is irrevocably tied—for better or worse—to literature’s greatest star-crossed lovers.

A fun and lovable story that makes you think of bright colours and yummy cupcakes.
Throughout the story , the author has added Cupcake recipes which I enjoyed with fun and fabulous names to suit the moods of the characters e.g"Seeing Red and Tasting Chocolate or Shot through the Heart Cupcakes".
Attention , Heil Hitler .... Just a few phrases that will arise in this war based novel set around World War II and Hitler's regime.
Review : The German - Paul Mercer
The German is a novel set in the time prior , during and after World War II. The German follows the story of Freddie Kessler and how his life turned out due to tragedy and horrible incident that happened when he was sixteen years old. This novel is R18 as it does deal with a chapter or two on a sexual molestation attack between a gang of older males and a young boy and in some parts can go into a minor bit of detail e.g licking his face etc.
The story then fast forwards to the start of Hitler's regime and World War II in August 1938. Freddie Kessler is twenty years old , has just finished college and has never had a girlfriend due to his experience as a teenager it has made him put a guard around himself as I could only imagine how gruesome an attack and the deadly consequences after reading many books etc that it would leave imprints on the victims and whereas as we are about to read , the initiators -the deviants don't always remember but the victims do as clear as day.
The story then moves into the action of the war where Freddie is now a pilot for the war flying all their fighter jets and he comes face to face with Hannibal Schneider one of his attackees. What follows will be a wretched journey as the war intervenes with plane crashes, family troubles. When Freddie meets a women that is of his dreams , he will soon realise that he is able to finally move on and soon he too begins to have a family of his own but of course things for Freddie don't go smoothly as he has to fight for his son Little Freddie who due to Freddie's mothers illness has been placed in the orphanage.
A novel that has included events that were real and has incorporated his writing style as a true historical fiction piece.

Review: A Lesson in Passion - Jennifer Connors - 2009
Ginny has been one of those girls that finds it hard to keep men around for a long time , so she has created the 3 date rule to save herself from getting hurt and also seeing if they are potential matches. As I was reading the first chapter especially the part of the 3 date rules, my mind kept flicking back and thinking of the movie starring the girl from My Big Fat Greek Wedding and My Life in Ruins - Nia Vardalos and the actor John Corbett , the movie is called "I hate Valentines Day" and Nia's role in the movie in order not to get hurt or stung by men , she only has three dates and then cuts her losses .
It's Vacation time in A Lesson in Passion and every year best friends Ginny and Lisa alternate between destinations. This year it's Lisa's turn and they are headed off to a resort in Jamaica. Ginny in a huge rush that she forgot to buy books and goes to the library borrows the bag of romance novels that her friend Holly recommended that they are like porn for women.
As they arrive at the resort, Ginny realises that Lisa has left out one important detail - the whole island resort is booked out the week for a Gay/Lesbian Alliance Week , which is alright for Lisa as she's a lesbian but for Straight and narrow Ginny - it seems like the week is going to be just her and her steamy historical novels.
As the week finishes, they are on their way home and wham bam an accident occurs and Ginny has found herself wound back into the scenes that are only found in romance novels - Early Scotland and she has come back as a mistress.
Will Ginny ever find her way home and what mischief and antics will Ginny get into when a Modern day girl meets Early Scotland with all those rogue highlanders.
A fun story that will bring Ginny right between the pages of the romance novels and will leave her cursing Holly for lending them to her. Will Ginny be able to find true love in early Scotland or will he current reality reflect in her state in Scotland ?
Find out in A Lesson of Passion by Jennifer Connors.
There is a Sequel to A Lesson of Passion titled A Lesson of Forgiveness which travels Ginny to another time and another place lets just hope its the right year and place.
I couldn't find the exact book cover to go with this review of a novella by author Miranda Neville , so I decided to browse on Google images for some pictures of Romance Novel Cover Art and though this one is set outside , I thought it was a beautiful cover depicting the art of romance heightened and described in these novels.
A Gift for a Princess - Miranda Neville
Lady Susan widowed after her husband died during the war , she goes to live with her cousin Lavina. Compared to Susan , Lavina is described as out there , vibrant , beautiful and the girl that all the guys want.
Whereas Susan sees herself as Lavina's dumpy and ugly customer and has come to the conclusion that no guy wants a widowed women, definitely not one looking like her.
Whereas Susan sees herself as Lavina's dumpy and ugly customer and has come to the conclusion that no guy wants a widowed women, definitely not one looking like her.
Mr.Wyford is by the sounds of it , a tutor of sorts or a friend of Lavina's as he is drawn into the story after telling the girls about a book. Lavina has her eyes set on him as a current marriage prospect. Isn't it funny that back then, men were the ones seen as pieces of meat and the woman sought them out like wolves in a sense but definitely not savagely, it would have been very subtle and ladylike.
However it is not Lavina , Mr Wyford's eyes are set on it is Susan. Will Susan be able to let her feelings beknown to Mr Wyford or will she not look as deeply and think that he is after Lavina.
What starts their relationship in motion is a case of one night passion, where she is treated as a princess by a masked Mr Wyford.
When reading this book , Susan seemed alot like myself - shy, lovable , knowledgeable especially when it came to books . Whereas Lavinia sounded exactly like my sister in some ways.
If A Gift for a Princess was made into a movie , I would put as Cast
Susan : Drew Barrymore or Amy Adams
Lavina: Hillary Duff
Mr Wyford : Jude Law or Hugh Jackman

Review : Tombstone Tea - Joanne Dahme - 2009
Tombstone Tea by Joanne Dahme is about a freshman named Jessie whom has just been transferred to a new school called Laurel Hill Charter High , which is a new experimental school opening up though being right next door to the cemetery , she has secretly nicknamed it Laurel Hill Cemetery High. Eager to fit in with the "Blonde's" , she accepts a dare to spend the night at the cemetery. When she arrives at the cemetery , she meets Paul whom is setting up a play called The Tombstone Tea which is where the title of the book originates from. At first, Jessie thinks that they are actors hired , but as the night passes and the week goes by ,she realises that maybe the actors playing the dead are really actually "the dead". A good read in finding out all about Spiritualism , Death and New Friends and if that doesn't inspire you the character Paul sounds like a hottie .
Are you a mystery fan ? Love reading and devouring Murder Mysteries especially the types of books that don't gloss over the killings themselves, the more gruesome the better and fast-paced ?.
Review : Outsourced - J. I. Kendall - 2009 - Book #1 : Greater-than- Riches Mysteries
Outsourcing is such a popular tool in the business world nowadays , that if you haven't heard of it or know some business that is participating in it then you have obviously been living under a rock.
For the business TCGT ( Trans-Geo Technology Corporation) they didn't see any harm in outsourcing over 500+ staff , but underneath all the strong business-like exterior at TCGT , somebody was waiting for a moment to crack.
TCGT's decision to outsource has landed the company in with the police as somebody is slowly killing one by one members of the business who in some way were responsible for the outsource.
The novel starts with Ella Larraway , one of the few not been made redundant goes to identify a body of one of their former employees whom committed suicide after losing his job, he leaves a note blaming those who fired him.
The same day , Ella gets a phone call from the Big Boss to say her mentor Odette has been murdered . Slowly the days go by and the murders start piling up , interviews with staff and former staff occur and somebody is leaving little packages for Ella connected to the murder.
As the book progresses we see that Ella is next and soon it is relied on that you can't trust anyone , more so the people you thought were your closest friends.
Whose making sure TCGT's employees are outsourced to six feet under and will Ella survive by the end of the week as the killer is slowly nearing her , one body at a time.
Outsourced is one of those mystery thrillers that will keep you on your toes , wanting to find out more and has been written in such a way that it gives you a concise lead up to the redundancies and murders without boring the reader with too much detail as some authors can do.
