Review: Some Boys - Patty Blount - August 2014

Some Boys are Jerks , and others think that they are Gods and that everyone should bow to them as they are the ones everyone wants to be with or friends with. Some boys think that they are above everyone else and Some boys can make your life a living hell and nightmare. For Grace, one night at a party she ends up drinking a tad too much but what she doesn't expect when she tries to say no is that Zach - one of the most popular football players at her school will rape her and leave her to fend for herself when the going gets tough or in this case when the police sirens start whirring. Grace is strong and tells her parents and the police what has happened, the thing though is that no-one believes her and her life at school will become a living nightmare as she must now face the people she thought were her friends as they continue to call her names and make her life a more living hell than it already is. When Grace is sentenced to cleaning locker duties , it is alongside Ian - one of Zach's friends and fellow football players - for a long time he has had a crush on Grace but after the incident he doesn't know how to talk to her or even who is telling the truth. During their cleaning lockers time , Ian will get to know the "hidden" Grace and learn over time that she is telling the truth about what happened. Can Ian bring closure to Grace and prove to Grace that not all guys are jerks and will hurt you. Can Ian also help Grace prove that she was correct and that Zach did rape her or when the going gets tough - whose side will Ian go to when it comes to the final crunch ?
Find out in "Some Boys" by Patty Blount. This book reminded me of a favourite of mine by author Laurie Halse Anderson "Speak" which is on the Banned Books list and also was made into a film starring Kristen Stewart.

Review: Steel Princess - Book #2 Royal Elite Series - Rina Kent - December 2019 At the end of Book #1, we were left on a cliffhanger of Elsa being pushed into the pool. At the beginning of book #2, she is saved by a newcomer to the school - Knox.  We can see some friendly flirting but nothing more going on between these two, but it riles up Aiden who still has this mindset of "if I can't have her, no-one can" especially since he is supposed to be engaged to Silver Queens. During Book #2 Elsa starts to recall some more memories and goes to Dr.Khan in hopes that he can open her Pandora's box and can restore her full memories of what happened before she was seven years old. We also catch a glimpse during this book of her past and why Aiden King's father blames her for his mother's death and why Aiden considered Elsa a ghost. Review: Dr. Strange Beard - Book #5 Winston Brothers Series - Penny Reid - July 2018 If there is a family that I love to read about it has been the Winston Brothers. This has to be one of my favorite book series out there as the brothers ; you can't help but fall in love with them all - with their funny quirks and their redneck comments. The other thing I love about The Winston Brothers is they are all genuinely nice guys ; they may look like they had a bad bone and they have reasons too - but they are the nicest around there, and they have the best intentions.
