Some are hallmarks of summer when skin is warmed by more than the sun. There is the after Thanksgiving dinner nightcap, as the smooth, sultry burn of whiskey warms your chest, rendering your limbs heavy or include lazy kisses and wandering hands beneath your best dress on a romantic Valentine's Day date. But sometimes, Grandma gets boozed up and passes out at the table, your brother gets caught rubbing one out under the fireworks, your kids catch mommy kissing Santa (and not on the lips), your special new toy winds up in the wrong gift bag, a goat steals and wears your sexy new thong and watching the ball drop takes on a whole new meaning. “I bet I could make you fall in love in a week.” The offer seals Scott Russell’s fate. After a bitter betrayal and an ugly divorce, the detective is forced to make a fresh start. His new position in a quiet suburb should be a walk in the park compared to his years in Chicago. However, he quickly learns that small towns come with their own issues, with citizens who are slow to forgive and even slower to forget. The town’s wealthy and reclusive author is a mystery to most. To Scott, she’s just another nameless girl on the train. With a reserved smile and shoes worth more than a month’s rent, his only concern is she might be out of his league. “I can give you seven days, but not my heart.” The acceptance is one more in a string of lies. Celeste Smythe doesn’t believe in love at first sight. Relationships take time and sometimes even that isn’t enough. Not with the secrets she harbors in her guarded heart. Yet fate keeps pushing her toward the handsome and absurdly persistent

Review: Needing Her - Molly McAdams

Review: Needing Her -Book #1.5 From Ashes Series - Molly McAdams - December 2013 Back when New Adult was still a twinkle in most people's eyes and the majority of the world had not yet heard of it, except book bloggers of course. Molly McAdams was one of the first New Adult authors that I had discovered, and I fell in love with her work, and to this day, I still support her books. In her book From Ashes, we met Cassidy who had gotten a black eye from her boyfriend at the time and Detective Connor Green was called to the scene, and the two got pretty cozy.  Of course, we know that Cassidy ended up with Gage and went off to live their belated HEA. Did you ever wonder what happened to Detective Connor Green? Needing Her by Molly McAdams is his story. After the incident and Cassidy moving away, Connor went into a zombie-like stage and moved back home and ended up next-door neighbors with his best friend's younger sister. Maci Price hasn't had much experience

VBT# Take Me With You - Nina G. Jones

Review: Take Me With You - Nina G. Jones - October 2016 Are you in the mood for dark fiction? Does the cover draw you in? These were two of the main factors that got me reading Take Me With You by Nina G. Jones. The book starts off with a killer who strikes at 3.15am as he says that's the perfect time as it is too late to keep awake and too early for others to be awakening. I found this interesting and wonder if it's true as I often wake around this time and try and get back to sleep and I am in that in-between state of sleepiness and awakeness. Our killer stalks and hunts his prey before attacking and builds up a relationship with his prey, breaking in and taking their mementos. He also seems a bit fair and just as he gives his victims at the beginning the illusion of free choice. During his time he hasn't been obsessed with any of his previous victims, but someone has caught his mind - Vesper. She has captivated him and spends more time building up an
