Review: America's Most Gothic - Haunted History Stranger Than Fiction - Leanna Renee Hieber and Andrea Janes - September 2025 I'm absolutely delighted to share my thoughts on America's Most Gothic: Haunted History Stranger than Fiction by Leanne Renee Hieber and Andrea Janes. This atmospheric gem arrived as a physical ARC from Kensington Publishing, and honestly, it couldn't have found a better home on my nightstand. One of my reading goals for 2026 is tackling at least twelve non-fiction books ,one per month and I'm thrilled to report I'm right on track. This beauty marks my second non-fiction read of the year, and what a wonderfully eerie way to continue this journey. As a writer for Gothic Bite Magazine US, I've spent countless hours researching historical crimes, peculiar criminals, poison rings, and architecturally strange buildings. The weird, the wacky, the downright spine-tingling , demons, hauntings, unexplained phenomena , all of it fascinates me...

Review: How to Sell A Haunted House - Grady Hendrix - January 2023 Louise and her brother Mark have never gotten on and Louise found that her mum favored her brother and it was always poor Mark. Louise gets a phone call from her brother to say that their parents have both died in a car accident. Now the pair of them must return home organise things and clear the house. The thing though is that Louise has bad memories of the house and believes it to be haunted.  This is probably due to the fact it is covered with puppets as her mum created them and ran a Christian puppet ministry for the community. Louise is about to discover that her mother has left everything to her brother except the art which goes to Louise. The house though has bad vibes especially a crazy puppet named Pumpkin who was the bane of Louise's childhood existence as it caused her to do bad things and it looks like it's not finished. As we all know Grady Hendrix is the King of Demons and Ghosts etc, we learn th...

Review: Nightingale House - Steve Frech

Review: Nightingale House - Steve Frech - June 2020 This was a read I should have done during Spooktober as it had the same feeling as books like The September House where you have a freaky house filled with ghosts and tragedies. Nicole and Daniel Price have found the perfect house and an old one at that, however just before the move for Daniel and his family, they are involved in a car crash. Nicole passed away and his daughter Caitlyn was injured but survived. Now Daniel must maneuver life in their new home as a single father. However, as they are about to learn, they are not alone in their house as strange things start happening including Daniel seeing Nicole's ghost, having nightmares, hearing his daughter Caitlyn playing with ghosts, and imaginary friends who aren't imaginary in the sense they did exist at one point. Nightingale House goes back and forth to the 1900's where we meet young Rebecca who has just turned seventeen and has been given a journal as a present....

Review: The September House - Carissa Orlando

Review: The September House - Carissa Orlando - September 2023 This book has been on my wishlist to read ever since I saw it on several Instagram pages, it just looked and sounded good and right up my alley. The September House reminded me of the books written by Riley Sager and Grady Hendrix. Those tales of horror and thrillers with a hint of supernatural.  It even in parts reminded of The Amityville Horror with the house being the cause of several deaths and murders. The book begins with Margaret and Hal finding their perfect house, a lovely old Victorian Home at a cheap cost. All is well until September hits and then the month of September is awful screaming and blood dripping down the walls as well as the ghosts come out to play. Then come October and everything resumes to normal. Life goes well and as long as they follow the rules all is well, until one day Hal has had enough of the ghosts, the craziness, and following the rules. He begs Margaret to leave, but she is stubbor...
