Review: Daughter of Mine - Megan Miranda - April 2024 An author that I do find a hit/miss for me but when her books are hits, they do suck you in and Daughter of Mine was one of those titles. The book starts with a funeral and a car being dragged from the lake that had been there for years. Hazel's dad has died and she is returning home to Mirror Lake. A place she left years ago and never looked back as she has felt like she doesn't fit in. Especially since her ex-best friend married the one brother who hates her and constantly reminds her that she isn't family and the other brother who doesn't like to rock the boat. Hazel has left the old family home and her brothers aren't too happy about it, one is already filing to contest her Dad's will. During the clean-up, some old photos are found in the attic and then a second car is found in the lake. The two cars though as we learn relate to Hazel's family one of them being her mother's car -the same one in w...

Review: The Last to Vanish - Megan Miranda - July 2022 You know how some mystery authors are either hits/misses, that is how I feel about Megan Miranda. Sometimes her books can be a hit out of the park or a missed shot and end up being put on the DNF Pile. The Last to Vanish was one of those hits as it featured a theme I do love as well which is a series of missing people over two decades and a small town where everyone is close-knit. Then it was Farrah, Alice, and now Landon West. Abby doesn't know what happened to them, but now that Landon's brother has arrived in town - she is curious to help him find out even an inkling of what happened to his brother. As Abby does this she learns that Landon was writing a story about all the missing people before he disappeared. Over the book, ...

Review: The Only Survivors - Megan Miranda - April 2023 Years ago, I read a couple of Megan Miranda's books and enjoyed them - though overall I do find this author a hit/miss for me. In The Only Survivors by Megan Miranda, we meet a group of classmates who were thrown together after a tragic accident that killed the majority of their classmates when two of the vans drove off the road - ten years ago.  Every year since the accident during the week of the accident - the survivors - there are now 7 of them get together as they made a pact never to talk about the accident and to check in with each other once a year. They stay at a beach house owned by survivor Oliver King.  The tenth anniversary though won't be like others as now there are two dead - Clara and Ian, Amaya is missing after she storms out and Cassidy can't help but think that the group is hiding secrets especially since she was lured to the beach house by a random text message. Who wants the whole group there an...
