Review: No Number Nine - FJ Campbell - March 2018 When Pip's older sister Holly died, she spiralled out of control as she was grieving. She also shut out the whole world except for Holly's husband Troy Costa. The pair spent time together and ended up sharing their grief via sex and soon Pip started to fall in love with Troy. Troy on the other hand wanted to focus on the Sydney Olympics and his hockey career as according to him he only had one shot left. The pair made a vow to cut contact and then see each other at the Sydney Olympics and pick up where they left off.  The year leading to the Olympics, Pip gets a job as an au pair in Germany for a family of boys and chucked hockey into the back of her mind. Review: The Colossus - Ranjini Iyer

Image
Review: The Colossus - Ranjini Iyer - December 2014 Are you a fan of the Stephanie Plum Series or Darynda Jone's Charley Davidson series ? Do you enjoy your mystery novels with a hint of light-heartedness and not too deep that you can often get a bit confused or on the dark side of life ? That's what I found when I was reading The Colossus as we meet Maxine aka Max Rosen who works by owning her own catering business - a real different career choice than those she grew up around in her family as we discover that her family's background was science. One day, while tidying up , Max comes across a coded document that she discover's was her fathers and links back to pharmecuticals that were used back in the Nazi era for medical experiments , even more so the drugs came from Ancient India. I quite liked this part as the author had connected all three different time periods together quite well as often some authors find it really difficult to join them toget...

VBT: The Music of Temptation - Verity Jacobs

Image
Review: The Music of Temptation - Verity Jacobs - March 2015 One of my favourite things to read about is a sub genre I like to call Geek Chic Lit , which is contemporary romance novels set within an Academic setting or the main characters are in a geeky job. In The Music of Temptation by Verity Jacobs, we meet Margot Duke who is living in Germany at the moment while she works on her PHD in Biology doing research on a daily basis in cells and stem research. For Margot, she has finally reached the point in her life where she believes she can no longer continue a long-distance romance with her boyfriend Eric who is in Spain. She breaks up with him on a Skype Interview , though nowadays I guess Facetime would be used instead of Skype. Wanting a night out and discovering that her favourite band is playing in town, she goes along to the concert - this band is her jam music when she is working in the lab. At the concert, she insults a guy whom she imagines is the roadi...
