Review: She's Going to Pay - Alexandra Ivy - October 2025 There are books you pick up expecting a pleasant evening, and books that take your evening hostage. She's Going to Pay by Alexandra Ivy is firmly the latter. I sat down with this one on a quiet weeknight with a cup of tea and the best of intentions and I was still reading at gone midnight, absolutely unwilling to leave Jesse Hudson's world behind until I knew how it all ended. It's that kind of book. Jesse Hudson didn't leave Canton, Missouri, so much as she escaped it. As a teenager she watched her stepmother and stepsister disappear under a cloud of suspicion, her father become a murder suspect, and then he vanishwed too  leaving her to wait, and wait, before finally walking away altogether. Years of bartending jobs and keeping moving followed. When she finally returns, it's meant to be quick and clean: sell her father's old bar, close the chapter, and leave for good. Review: America's Most Gothic - Haunted History Stranger Than Fiction - Leanna Renee Hieber and Andrea Janes - September 2025 I'm absolutely delighted to share my thoughts on America's Most Gothic: Haunted History Stranger than Fiction by Leanne Renee Hieber and Andrea Janes. This atmospheric gem arrived as a physical ARC from Kensington Publishing, and honestly, it couldn't have found a better home on my nightstand. One of my reading goals for 2026 is tackling at least twelve non-fiction books ,one per month and I'm thrilled to report I'm right on track. This beauty marks my second non-fiction read of the year, and what a wonderfully eerie way to continue this journey. As a writer for Gothic Bite Magazine US, I've spent countless hours researching historical crimes, peculiar criminals, poison rings, and architecturally strange buildings. The weird, the wacky, the downright spine-tingling , demons, hauntings, unexplained phenomena , all of it fascinates me...

Review: In Their Shadows - Briana Cole - October 2023 As a mood reader, I love the freedom to scroll through my Kindle library to find books that resonate with my current vibe. It’s also a great way to weed out titles that aren’t clicking and discover hidden gems. One such gem was In Their Shadows by Briana Cole, a thrilling and suspenseful read that hooked me from the start. The story centers around April, a woman living a high-stakes double life. Under one identity, she’s known as Erin, and under another, as Michelle. Each identity comes with its own husband, and neither man knows about the other. But April’s carefully constructed world begins to crumble when, in her life as Erin, she receives a parcel addressed to her real name, April. Inside the package is an item from her past—a past she’s desperately tried to leave behind. Things take an even darker turn when a figure from her history resurfaces, threatening to expose her secrets and shatter the precarious balance she’s worke...
