Synopsis: More Than This - Layla Emmerson - March 2026 At that moment, I wished I could be someone else. Someone who wasn’t scared to be touched by desire and feel the flames of passion burning through her. Bound by her past, Harper, a romance author, hides in the novel she now struggles to write. However, when a non-negotiable ultimatum brings Reid into her life, it changes everything. Not only is he a successful author, he’s also the ultimate alpha male. With an impenetrably dark demeanour, he appears emotionally detached... an enigma. Whilst embarking on a research venture of a more intimate nature, the pair become close and soon the line between fantasy and reality becomes blurred. They break the rules, and when unexpected feelings develop, Harper becomes the greatest weakness he never saw coming. Reid knows the secret he hides will break her all over again. Review: Pause - Kylie Scott

Review: Pause - Book #2 Larson Brothers Series - Kylie Scott - July 2021 Kylie Scott has long been one of my favourite Australian romance authors, so when I found myself in a bit of a romance slump, I decided to turn to one of her titles sitting unread on my bookshelf. I needed something comforting, reliable, and engaging—and Kylie Scott delivered exactly that with Pause . Not only did this book reignite my love for romance reads, but it also earned Leif Larson a well-deserved spot on my Book Boyfriends Shelf. Pause kicks off with a dramatic and emotional hook: Anna awakens from a coma after a devastating car accident—seven months of her life gone. But what’s even more heartbreaking is what she wakes up to : the discovery that her husband, Ryan, has cheated on her with her best friend and the two are now expecting a baby together. Talk about a nightmare! While Anna expected to return to her old life, she instead finds herself starting over entirely. As Anna begins the difficult pro...

Review: The Banned Books Club - Brenda Novak

Image
Review: The Banned Books Club - Brenda Novak - September 2024 I am in two minds about this book as I come to write the book review the first thing I want to address is the title can be a bit misleading. Yes, there were talks and a session of The Banned Books Club where they read Stephen King's Cujo and it talked a little about how the group came to be formed. That was it - I assumed with the title that it would be a book about books and book club, maybe each chapter talking about a banned book but nope, this book was more of a family going through a hard time and coming together in the face of tragic circumstances and getting the courage to stand up and be the person that they had read in books that were banned. The type of person who in the face of injustice gets knocked down but gets back up again. We have our two main sisters Gia and Margot. Gia left the town when she was young and never returned as she was caught up in a #MeToo case He Said/ She Said case with her English teach...

Review: All Rhodes Lead Here - Mariana Zapata

Review: All Rhodes Lead Here - Mariana Zapata - April 2021 This book and others from this author have been on my TBR bookshelf for a while and I kept putting it off as readers had talked about how Mariana Zapata was the Queen of slow-burn romance and more often books that are all about slow-burn are the other sort of slow - slow paced and boring as nothing happens. However, that was not the case in All Rhodes Lead Here by Mariana Zapata, as this book seemed to hold its own as though the romance was slow-burn and didn't happen till near the end of the book, the storyline was good enough that it carried most of the book. The book starts with our female MC finally standing up for herself and breaking free of the bonds she had for the past fourteen years. She has packed up, booked an Air BNB, and headed back to her hometown in the mountains of Colorado. When Aurora arrives, she discovers things aren't quite as they seem as the owner of the house doesn't know anything about her ...
