Review: Her Husband's Secret - Emily Shiner - May 2023 Well, hello lovelies! I'm just settling back into my reading nook after yesterday's 24-hour readathon (yes, I actually did it!), and let me tell you, this one kept me turning pages between cups of tea and stolen reading moments. Emily Shiner's Her Husband's Secret is one of those deliciously twisty domestic thrillers that makes you want to pull your cardigan a bit tighter. When Eloise discovers her husband Jared has fathered a child with his mistress Tina, she's done but thanks to an ironclad prenup, forgiveness would cost her everything she's worked for. So instead of divorce lawyers, she enlists her cousin Ricky to help plot the ultimate revenge: murder Jared and frame Tina for it. Simple, right? Well, not quite. Here's where things get properly unhinged  Ricky's got his own obsession brewing with Tina, and his grip on reality starts slipping faster than my bookmark when I doze off mid-chapte...

Review: One by One - Freida McFadden

Review: One by One - Freida McFadden - July 2020 I have always been a big fan of thrillers and near the end of last year, this author Freida McFadden started to pop up on my radar and I found myself enjoying her psychological thrillers except of course for the one book that was a DNF for me. I was looking forward to One by One as it features one of my favourite thriller tropes - yes, it's been done a thousand times in books and movies, but the whole revenge-based killing off - one by one, is a trope that I have loved especially when the author does it right which is what Freida did in her title "One by One". The book starts with three couples heading off to the woods for a week's holiday in a cute Air BNB Cabin. It is a breakaway that everyone longs for, especially Claire and Jack. The thing though is Claire and Jack aren't married Claire is married to Jack's best friend Noah. For the past few months, Claire and Noah's marriage has started to disintegra...

Review: Because You're Mine - Marin Montgomery - October 2017 When Levin's best friend Eric died, she felt she had no one who understood. That was until she met Alec, his business partner and best friend. Their relationship was a whirlwind one which left them engaged and ready to be married.       Review: The Silent Woman - Minka Kent - September 2022 One of the authors I have enjoyed is Minka Kent and her mysteries, I do also love her romances under her other pen name Winter Renshaw. So it makes total sense that I enjoy both names. In The Silent Woman, we meet newlywed Jade Westmore. Jade finally has a perfect life and perfect house and what she believes is the perfect man. Jade believes her husband is a caring man as he still looks after his first wife Sylvie. She lives in the backyard cottage and has full-time care. One day, her nurse leaves for a family emergency and Jade steps up. Jade introduces herself and Sylvie gives her a note "RUN". Now Jade can't stop thinking about it and is now determined to get to the bottom of what happened and learn what she can about Sylvie and Well's relationship. What happens though when she learns that all is not what it seems and that the night of Sylvie's accident, something more sinister happened? Can Jade get...

Review: Good Husbands - Cate Ray

Review: Good Husbands - Cate Ray - June 2022 I have to admit with this book, I didn't have a high expectation as a friend had read it and said she found it similar to Anatomy of a Scandal and that she didn't like the way the ending fell and that it was a slow burn. For me, I was most worried about the slow burn part as I prefer my stories fast-paced. I need to be pulled in almost immediately if not straightaway. This book, surprised me as I was drawn in from the first page and the book, I could see why my friend thought it was a slow burn but surprisingly it worked for the story itself. The book starts with three different wives receiving a letter from a girl who claims that 30 years ago roughly her mother was raped by three guys and those three guys are now the three women's husbands. The girl is dying and with no other family and claiming that one of the three is her dad, she has left the contents of her storage shed to them which includes her mother's diary. Each o...
