Review: I Love Romcoms and I am a Feminist - Corrina Antrobus and Illustrated by Vulga Drawings - August 2024 If you love romantic comedies and identify as a feminist, "I Love Romcoms and I Am a Feminist: A Manifesto in 100 Romcoms" by Corrina Antrobus, with illustrations by Vulga Drawings, is the perfect book for you. Historically, romantic comedies have often been criticized for their lack of feminist themes, but Antrobus sets out to change that perception. As a huge fan of the genre myself, titles like "10 Things I Hate About You," "Head Over Heels," and "She's All That" are my go-tos, so I was thrilled to discover a book that aligns my love for romcoms with my feminist values. This book serves as a fearlessly feminist guide to romantic comedies through the ages, revealing the hidden feminist messages in your favorite movies. It's a refreshing reminder that you can indeed love romcoms and be a feminist! Corrina Antrobus, a film journal...

With this compelling collection of 365 biographies, Roenfanz offers adult female readers an empowering counterpart to the popular Rebel Girls series, inviting them to embark on a year-long journey celebrating the unsung heroines of history. Review: I Choose Darkness - Jenny Lawson

Review: I Choose Darkness - Jenny Lawson - September 2022 Currently, I have been doing the Kindle challenge and getting my ribbons and one of the recent mystery challenges was "Great Reads", so I scrolled through the list of what Amazon considered a great read and came across one that jumped out and screamed, "read me". It looked fun and something that I would enjoy. A blogger that I have followed for a few years is Jenny Lawson aka The Bloggess - Like Mother Theresa, but better is her tagline over on her site https://thebloggess.com/ . She is funny and reminds me of other comedian-type writers I love like Jen Lancaster, Kaz Cooke, Samantha Bee, Laurie Notaro, and Chelsea Handler. If you ever want memoirs but funny ones that leave you LOL'ing then these are females you need to add to your reading lists. I know there has been a lot lately about strong female role models, but to me, these women kick arse as they make you view life through a lens that everyone ca...

Review: The Rebel Girl's Handbook - Rebel Girls

Review: The Rebel Girls Handbook - Rebel Girls - October 2022 Another installment in the amazing series is the Rebel Girls, this is the series that I wish had been around when I was a child. I would have had stronger role models and ended up on a different path in life had it been for books like this.  Instead, when I was younger it wasn't a thing and I was the type of girl who ended up with a bedroom wall covered in posters of musicians and celebrities. It's only now in my thirties that I look back and imagine how my life could have been different if I had role models that were inspirational females. We always heard that females could do anything, but it wasn't pushed or shown as much as it is these days with #bossbabes and #girlbosses and Rebel Girls. The Rebel Girls Handbook Features Rebel Girls from all over the world from every country imaginable in New Zealand we have Nancy Wake and Helen Clark and Dr. Siouxsie Wiles. The book includes over 300+ profiles of famous ...
