Review: Five Voices - Tamara Moss

Review: Five Voices - Tamara Moss - September 2026 I’ll admit it: I’m a sucker for a good “who did it?” and the moment I read the blurb for Five Voices, I knew I’d be settling in for a binge. If you’ve ever lost a weekend to Karen McManus or Sara Shepard (guilty on both counts, they’re two of my all-time favourites), then pop the kettle on, because this one belongs on your shelf. Picture this: five friends, one hugely popular podcast, and a board game table where the debates get a little too heated. Rosie, William, Simone, Zac and Ocean make up the Five Voices, and then one night, an hour after a blazing argument during recording, William is found dead. Just like that, there are four suspects and every one of them is swearing they’re innocent. What really hooked me was Rosie. She’s determined to find out who killed William, her best friend, or so she believed. Rosie wears the rosiest of rose-coloured glasses when it comes to him, and I found myself wanting to gently tap her on the sh...

Review: You're Not Safe - Mary Burton

Review: You're Not Safe - Book #3 Texas Rangers - Mary Burton - January 2014 Here we are at the end of January, and honestly, it feels a bit different this year. Last January I was flying through books : 42 of them! but this time around? Life had other plans. Work has been hectic, and I've found myself in one of those reading slumps where you stare at your TBR pile but nothing quite clicks. I managed 20 books this month, which isn't terrible, but it's definitely a slower pace than I'm used to. The silver lining? I've been gravitating toward thrillers lately. Romances just aren't holding my attention right now, so when I picked up You're Not Safe by Mary Burton from the depths of my Kindle (you know, that digital graveyard where books go to be forgotten), I was hoping for something to pull me out of my funk. The premise immediately grabbed me: a man is found hanging from a tree with a photograph pinned nearby. Staged to look like suicide, but the poli...

Review: Let Her Be - Lisa Unger

Review: Let Her Be - Book #6 Hush Series - Lisa Unger - July 2020 I was in one of those moods the other night where I wanted to read something, but everything I clicked on and tried was a DNF the time was clicking on and I knew If I mucked around and started a novel, I wouldn't be able to sleep as I would have been stuck right into it. So I clicked on one of the Amazon Original Stories I had. These are great little quick reads and scratch that reading itch.  I knew I would enjoy this one as well as Lisa Unger is a favorite thriller writer of mine. This book starts with introducing us to Will - he is a writer but with dark demons. He has lost the one he loved and then tried to commit suicide. Now a couple of years later, he has got his life back on track and writing and is meeting with an old friend Emily. She knew his former girlfriend Anisa who no one has seen for over a year except for the odd Instagram post. Will decides to go on a hunt for her and Emily tags along, but as h...

Review: Prom Queen - Laura Wolfe - October 2023 Since COVID-19, the world of Podcasts has become more popular especially when it comes to true crime and serial killers, even cold cases have been solved. Now that world is being developed into books with stories being set around true crime podcasts and a small-town unsolved cold case. Prom Queen was one of those books and unlike Carrie where the Prom Queen was covered in pig blood and set fire to the gym, this Prom Queen died on Prom night wearing the crown. For twenty years it was written down as a suicide, but for a few of those who knew Bailey - they always thought someone had murdered her. Now Twenty years later, Hannah is in town and part of her crime podcast - she is doing an expose on the cold case that is Bailey as it is coming up to the twentieth anniversary and she also received an anonymous tip that one of her friends killed her. Hannah though is about to stir up old memories, old and new vendettas as the remaining classmates ...
