Review: Hidden in Shadows - Book #2 Aremorden Series - Viveca Sten - October 2021 While scrolling through my Kindle, I stumbled upon Hidden in Shadows by Viveca Sten, a thriller set in Sweden. As a fan of Nordic crime fiction and authors like Camilla Läckberg and Jo Nesbø, I was eager to dive into this gripping tale. Viveca Sten delivers a captivating mix of murder, secrets, and forbidden love that kept me turning the pages late into the night. The story begins in 2020 with a shocking murder: Johan, a former Olympic skier turned plumber, is found dead on the side of the road, execution-style. This crime rocks the local community, as Johan was not just a skilled tradesman but also a beloved celebrity. Who would kill Johan, and what could possibly motivate such a brutal act? The police face immense pressure to solve the case as the narrative takes us back to 2012, unraveling a web of events that lead to Johan’s tragic death. In the 2012 timeline, we meet Rebecca, a young woman enteri...

Review: Ali Cross - The Secret Detective - #Book 3 - Ali Cross - James Patterson - June 2022 One of James Patterson's series that I have been enjoying is Ali Cross's teen detective series. Ali Cross is Alex Cross's youngest child and he is following in his father's footsteps. This book starts with Ali's best friend Gabe creating an app that turns the police scanner into transcription and sends an alert to their cell phones. One early morning Ali and his friend Gabe snuck out to call at an apartment that is known for its gangs. On the scene, Ali sees his dad and then learns a cop has shot one of the gang members. This incident sparks a discussion and debate at school about police shootings and Ali starts to encounter bullying as a "cop kid". What I did like though was that Ali's friends who knew him stood by him during this and his family of course I have always adored. The part that frustrated me the most was Sienna; I hate her character as Ali likes...

Review: No Way Back - Chloe Adams

Review: No Way Back - Book #1 Mia's Way - Chloe Adams - October 2012 Scrolling through my kindle, I needed something to hit the spot and so grabbed an oldie book that sounded a bit edgy and had an amazing eye-catching, and striking cover.  No Way Back by Chloe Adams was an edgy read as we meet Mia who attended a party without her friend and ended up sadly getting roofied and raped by not but two guys.  One of them though is the son of her father's political connections as Mia's father is a Senator and quite a well-known politician. As the book goes along, we read as Mia is made to feel like it was her fault she was raped and now is being used as a political pawn guided by her father's secretary and lawyers. I liked the interaction that Mia had with the police officers Dominic and Kishia. I did have to keep reminding myself that Dom was only in his 20s and not older as there was this chemistry between Mia and Dom, I found Dom's character to seem way older than h...

Audiobook Club Jessica Frances Publication date: February 25th 2022 Genres: Adult, Contemporary, LGBTQ+, Romance Being a police officer in a small town doesn’t often offer up many surprises. Working the night shift means I rarely see or do much of anything that doesn’t involve a speeding vehicle, or a drunken rant. And, while quiet nights are better than deadly ones, it still takes some getting used to after living in a big city for years. So, I’m rather shocked when I pull over a driver and find the dirtiest audiobook playing from the car speakers. And, paint me intrigued when the hot driver struggles to get the enticing words to stop broadcasting to the entire street. The embarrassing encounter has us both lowering our guard, and I find myself a new friend, one who suggests we start our own audiobook club. Soon, we become more than just friends as we listen and fall into stories and new worlds together and, naturally, the sexy scenes we’re listening to become a blueprin...
