Review: Never Lie - Freida McFadden - September 2022 This author has been on my list for a while as I have read a couple of books prior and enjoyed them so I had aimed to read her backlist. This one was a prize from @bookiebron and it was such a great read and a fast-paced one too, I just didn't want to put it down. Never Lie starts with meeting Adrienne Hale who is a therapist. She runs her business from home and in the beginning we meet a couple of her clients. The book then jumps three years later and Tricia and Ethan are looking at buying a new house. The house happened to belong to Adrienne Hale who vanished without a trace three years ago. A snowstorm has braced and now Ethan and Tricia are stranded and stuck. Over the next few days, the couple will live in the house and during this time Tricia finds a hidden room where she will find recordings of tapes from the Doctors' sessions.  Never Lie flips between past/ present as we learn about what truly happened to the Docto...

Review: Nanny Needed - Georgina Cross - October 2021 Do you have days when you know you want to read, but everything you try is just not doing it for you? That was this morning for me, as I tried two books that were both DNFs, and finally third time lucky, was a book that had hooked my attention and ended up being a good read with a twist that was OMG and I did not see coming at all. Sarah's Aunt left her with a lot of medical bills so when Sarah sees the ad for a Nanny, she jumps at it as it turns out it could solve all their financial issues. When Sarah arrives though, things are seemingly normal at first but then the "special conditions and discretion" becomes clear as the truth is that the Nannying isn't exactly kosher without giving too much of th...

Review: Marrow - Tarryn Fisher - April 2016 For most people, they have only really discovered Tarryn Fisher in the later years with her books The Three Wives, The Wrong Family, and An Honest Lie, or with her collab Never Never with Colleen Hoover.  However, some of us keen readers, first discovered her when she started writing her series The Opportunist which is still one of my favourite series. Like her earlier books, Marrow is still in her vein of those books that are considered dark, edgy, and slightly weird and quirky. Marrow is called the body part "Bone Marrow" and features a few times in the book starting with The Bone House where our main female lead Margo Moon lives with her mum and a revolving door of men. Margo hates her home and calls it The Eating House as it devours your soul slowly till there is nothing less and you are left as a shell of your former self. The suburb is also one of those crackhouse-type ghetto ones where if you are lucky to get out, get out o...
