Review: You're Dead to Me - Amy Christine Parker - December 2024 Amy Christine Parker’s You’re Dead to Me is a chilling YA thriller that blends the glam of Gossip Girl with the sinister vibes of Carrie , delivering a high school horror story that’s impossible to put down. Packed with ghostly visions, a masked serial killer, and a fierce heroine on the clock to save her own life, this novel keeps you guessing right until its blood-soaked finale. Meet Ruby, a snarky, sharp-tongued scholarship student at the elite Oleander High School. Straddling the tense divide between the town’s privileged elites and its struggling locals, Ruby’s anonymous gossip blog, ReputationKiller, has earned her both loyal followers and enemies. But when her secret identity is exposed, the tables turn. Publicly shunned and targeted by the town’s collective ire, Ruby’s situation spirals into outright terror after she encounters her ghostly doppelgänger—a blood-drenched vision of herself in a prom dress. Review: Sugar Coated Secrets - Carmen Rosales - September 2024 I was in two minds with this book as the cover and the blurb made this book out to seem like a dark romance read when in fact it was more on the sweeter side with an edgy twist and felt like a lot of the earlier New Adult Romances I used to read by Jessica Sorensen and Abbi Glines. The book starts with our main character Dulce in high school and it's her birthday, she has been just dropped home by Ford Keller - the hottest guy in school. The pair go their separate ways and then on prom night, Dulce gets a text from Ford inviting her. For Dulce though it seems that this is a prank and she gets left in the field. That night, she is raped and assaulted and it becomes the worst night of her life as she also got pregnant and miscarried. The night even still four years later gives her PTSD and panic attacks. When Ford comes back to town, he wants to pick up with the sweet girl he knew from high school - of course as he left b...

Review: The Ones Who Got Away - Book #1 The Ones Who Got Away Series - Roni Loren - January 2018 This has been a series that has been sitting on my device for quite a while now and as readers of my reviews know, I have tried to make 2021 a year of cleaning my older books off. The Ones Who Got Away grabbed my attention those many years ago as it is about the survivors of a school shooting and set 12 years later. For a group of teens, they were the survivors of their school prom when two students Joseph and Trevor decided to bring guns in and shoot those there that night. On that night, when the shooting started Liv was in the closet with Finn and when the shooting started, he left Liv and ran to his date Rebecca which left Liv alone and vulnerable. Now twelve years later, a documentary is being made and the survivors are back home in Long Acre to tell their story of that night. Liv hasn't seen Finn since that year and now they are back in the same proximity but none of them are th...

Review: His Scream Queen - Brooklyn Ann - Book #3 - B Mine Series - April 2020 Three years ago when Brittany was in Middle School, she was considered one of the freaks and geeks as she was a plain jane. That is until she discovered in the library some of the occult books and learned the art of spells and witchcraft. She practiced day in and day out until she was able to summon her demon named Scar ( for short). With an animal blood sacrifice, Brittany learned that Scar could grant wishes for her and so she worked her way up the chain to become Queen Bee of the school, leaving behind her old life and everyone in it - including her ex-best friend Jamie Blair.
