Review: Kissing Tolstoy - Penny Reid

Review: Kissing Tolstoy - Book #1 Dear Professor - Penny Reid - May 2014 Penny Reid is one of my all-time favourite authors, especially when it comes to quirky, geeky, nerdy characters and what I like to call Geek Chic Lit. Her characters always seem to speak directly to my heart because, more often than not, I can see a little bit of myself in them. The overthinking, the awkwardness, the love of books and knowledge… yep, Penny Reid gets me! Kissing Tolstoy had actually been sitting patiently on my Kindle since its release, and I honestly cannot believe it took me this long to finally read it. LOL! But, as they say, better late than never, and I am so glad I eventually picked it up. Imagine going on a blind date with a ridiculously attractive man, only to discover months later that your super-hot mystery date is now your Russian Literature professor. What do you do? Well, if you're anything like Anna , you overthink absolutely everything, panic internally, and pray for a swift end...

Review: Architecture and Artistry - Book #11 Green Valley Library Series - Nora Everly -October 2022 Back in 2019, Smartypants Romance first released their books all set in the "PennyVerse" aka The World of Penny Reid's series and I have been hooked on their books ever since. Every time I read one and I am transported back to Green Valley, Tennessee - my heart is warmed. I do enjoy her other ones based on the Knitting series but my main love lies with her books set around the small town where the Winston Brothers were set. Readers will remember that Green Valley Library started with the Matriach of the Winston Family working there and now has evolved into a series of eleven titles. Architecture and Artistry will have us meeting Willa's younger sister Sadie Hill. Sadie after being left deserted and broken by her soon-to-be ex-husband when they can find him, has moved back to Green Valley with her twin boys Flynn and Rider - named after the hero in Tangled and living wi...

Review: Live and Let Grow - Penny Reid - April 2021 You ever have those days that you try and read something and you just find that nothing sticks with you? That's how I felt and so scrolling, I came across Penny Reid which I know that I always enjoy and so I started reading it. Live and Let Grow was a nice quick read and we are introduced to Alice who is best friends with Milo while is a traveling professor, she waters his plants and takes care of things for him. Alice also has a big secret, she is head over heels in love with Milo. She finally has worked up the courage to leave him a letter and tell him her feelings. She rings her sister but of course, she tells her sister that this is a bad idea and now Alice is worried and tries internet dating. When Milo returns, he feels lost as Alice is ignoring him and he doesn't know why - he thinks it's because she's dating the guy he saw her with at the University. Can this pair finally stop the miscommunication and tell each...

Review: Homecoming King - Book #1 Three Kings Series - Penny Reid - December 2021 What do you do when you get stuck in a reading rut? I tried two books this morning and nothing clicked for me, they were just blah. So I continued to scroll through my Libby App and came across Penny Reid's Homecoming King. One that had been on my list for a while and also a book that I knew I would enjoy as this author has never failed me. If you want quirky characters, a little awkward, and lots of laughs, then Penny Reid is the author for you. Homecoming King is Book #1 in her Three Kings series and we first meet our female character Abby, she is tending a bar when a huge bulky man comes in just before closing. That man turns out to be Rex McMurtry. He is now a pro footballer and famous, but for Abby - he is the guy who she had a crush on right through school, the only one worthy of having his name doodled in her notebook. The pair went from kindergarten to high school together in the small town ...

Review: Code of Matrimony - April White

Review: Code of Matrimony - Book #2.5 Cipher Security Series - April White - September 2021 I was in the mood for a quick read and so I finally decided to read Code of Matrimony and I loved this book. Readers, of my blog, will know that I am a big fan of what I call Geek Chick Lit, those books that feature quirky characters - the socially awkward females. I think the reason I love them is that I see myself often in the characters as I often find myself as the awkward one and I also have a lot of random facts running through my head. Like the characters in this book, I also found someone in my life who loves me for me - quirks and all and stands by me and my moments like tonight I was very indecisive about what I wanted to eat for dinner and we finally got there in the end. Slightly off-topic there, but back to the book. Code of Matrimony is a quick read and features the upcoming nuptials between Anna and Darius whom we met in the first book of this series. We also have another blosso...
