Review: Wanting the Winger - Brenda Rothert

Review: Wanting the Winger - Book #2 Love on the Line Series - Brenda Rothert - June 2025 Sports romances hold a special place in my reading heart, and when I saw Wanting the Winger available through Hambright PR, I didn't hesitate to request it. My history with Brenda Rothert's work goes back to before 2017, and I was fortunate enough to meet her at RT2017 in Atlanta—a dream vacation that remains one of my favorite literary memories. That connection made diving into Sebastian's story even more meaningful. Wanting the Winger delivers everything I love about the best friend's sibling trope wrapped in the high-energy world of ice hockey. Sebastian "Bash" is our charming winger who opens his home to Lainey, his best friend Eric's little sister. She's pursuing her dreams as a microbiologist with a new lab position, but there's one massive complication: her engagement to Shane, a man Bash absolutely despises. The tension between wanting to protect his ...

Review: Unloved - Peyton Corinne

Review: Unloved - Book #2 The Undone - Peyton Corinne - February 2025 You know that feeling when you're standing in front of your bookshelf, finger hovering over a spine, completely torn? That was me with this Peyton Corinne hockey romance. Part of me was desperate to dive in, but my brain had been firmly planted in thriller territory lately – you know how it is when life gets messy and you need those adrenaline-pumping page-turners to match your internal chaos. But sometimes the universe knows what you need better than you do. This wasn't a "knock-your-socks-off, shout-from-the-rooftops" kind of read, but it was something more valuable – it was exactly what my vulnerable little heart needed. The emotional beats hit differently when you're already feeling raw, and Peyton Corinne doesn't shy away from the messy, complicated parts of human connection. Ro absolutely wrecked me. Her desperate need to be liked, that painful familiarity of trying just a bit too h...

Image
When a health issue ends Christina’s dancing career, she finds herself on a new path as a co-owner of an NHL team. But, when a friend needs help at her dance studio, the last thing she expected was for the hottie taking private lessons to wind up on her brother’s hockey team. Readers who love secret, workplace romances will enjoy Dances with Pucks by Debbie Charles, a steamy, sports romance. Read Now! Cam Guarding the net is not my only goal While other players relax on the golf course, my off-season is spent in the ballroom. Dancing keeps me limber and the memory of my mom alive. My father dismissed hockey as a career and moved on to a new family. Joke’s on him. I’ve made it to the NHL, and I’ll clear close to a mil at age twenty-four. The only thing left on my life plan is a family, and I have my eye on the beautiful dance instructor who keeps me on my toes. Christina I prefer numbers to people. They’re far more predictable. Numbers make sense; people don’t. After a health issu...

Review: Captured Love - Emery Paige

Review: Captured Love - Book #3 Crestwood University Series - Emery Paige - March 2025 Once it was Baseball stars and then it was Football and now currently, we are in a sports romance era where Hockey Players are all the rage.  As someone who used to play Hockey in school, I have been enjoying these reads and I have always wanted to personally see an ice hockey match. Though I am not much of a sports person these days, I still love reading about them. Captured Love had captured my attention as the main female character Selene worked as a student librarian. This however was the extent of excitement for me with this book as I love my books with a bit more grit and that goes for the romances too. Maybe someone who will give it back to the main male character just as good like Elle Kennedy's characters or someone who has gone through a just as tragic or even more tragic life like Ava Harrison's characters.  Captured Love was what I would classify as a YA romance as it really wa...

Review: The Graham Effect - Elle Kennedy

Review: The Graham Effect - Book #1 The Campus Diaries - Elle Kennedy - October 2023 After receiving an ARC of The Charlie Method (Book #3 in the Campus Diaries series), I figured it was high time to dive into the first book, The Graham Effect. And wow—what an absolute delight! If you loved Elle Kennedy’s Briar University and Off-Campus series, Campus Diaries will give you those same heartwarming, swoon-worthy vibes, maybe even more so.  This book centers around Gigi Graham, the daughter of Garrett and Hannah from The Deal (Off-Campus Book #1), and it’s a fantastic continuation for longtime fans. Gigi is determined to make her mark in the hockey world, separate from her father’s legendary status. Her three goals are simple: qualify for the women’s national hockey team, win Olympic gold, and step out of Garrett’s shadow. The problem? She needs help improving her game, and the best person to do that is Luke Ryder. Ryder is a force to be reckoned with—towering at 6’5”, brooding, and a...

Review: Daydream - Hannah Grace

Image
Review: Daydream - Book #3 Maple Hills Series - Hannah Grace - August 2024 This is a hard review to write as I'm still not quite sure where exactly I sit on this book, but today it will be a 4-star read. Icebreaker - I adored and Wildfire- was average. This one I feel sits between the two of them and I think this is solely because of my ability to relate to both characters with Halle's bookish side and the family responsibility/mediator and then Henry with his neurodivergence side as I grew up in a family with a dad who has ADHD and then a mum and two siblings who both are on the Autism spectrum. I was never diagnosed but picked up a few traits as how couldn't I, living in my household growing up. Ever since I read Icebreaker and met the character Henry, I was in love with him and so this is the book I had been waiting for since first reading Icebreaker in November last year. Henry is captaining this year the Ice Hockey team and is trying his best to be there for everyone e...

Review: Her Greatest Mistake - Hannah Cowan

Image
Review: Her Greatest Mistake - Book #1 Greatest Love Series - Hannah Cowan - January 2023 In a mission to clear my bookshelf, I picked up Hannah Cowan's first book in the Greatest Love Series and was surprised at how quickly I got through it though, to be honest, it was an easy read and a theme I have read several times over. Her Greatest Mistake starts with Braxton and Maddox sitting in their treehouse as Maddox is off on his hockey journey as his career is just starting and Braxton tells him, she will always be by his side as their love is forever. Years pass and we see that the pair went their separate ways and lost contact with each other and how Braxton broke Maddox's heart which was a twist that made this title a little different as normally it is the guy that makes the first "bad move" not the female. The other thing we read is that there is bad blood between Braxton's father and Maddox that stems from years ago and played a huge part in their separation ...
