Review: Scythe and Sparrow - Book #3 The Ruinous Love Trilogy - February 2025 It’s no secret that The Ruinous Love Trilogy has been one of my favorite dark romantic comedy series, and I dove into Scythe and Sparrow with sky-high expectations after devouring Butcher & Blackbird and Leather & Lark. Brynne Weaver’s previous books set the bar incredibly high with their perfect blend of wit, chaos, and heart, but unfortunately, this final installment didn’t quite hit the mark for me. Review: Leather and Lark - Book #2 The Ruinous Love Trilogy - Brynne Weaver - June 2024 Last year in November, I read a fun new Dark Romance/ Comedy that featured two serial killers and a page of trigger warnings called Butcher and Blackbird. I loved it as it was fun and different as most of the serial killer books, I read are thriller and murder related without any hints of humor.  Lark and Leather is the story of Lark (Sloane’s best friend) and Lachlan (Rowan's brother).  Lark comes from two crime families and she is secretly following in their footsteps as what she calls a "Multiple deleter" - the job she sees is to get rid of the child molesters etc and since she loves pretty things like glitter and resin, arts, and crafts - she turns her victims into furniture and household items like coasters. Review: Butcher and Blackbird - Book #1 The Ruinous Love - Brynne Weaver -August 2023 As soon as I saw this book, I was taken in by the cover as it sounded amazing. Then opening the pages and reading the first couple which were filled with the best trigger warnings, I knew I was going to be in for a crazy-filled ride. To sum it up in a sentence - this is Bonnie and Clyde with comedy and dark humor. The book starts with two serial killers known as The Orb Weaver aka Sloane and The Butcher of Boston aka Rowan meeting at a killing. Rowan was ready to do some killing but found that Sloane had got there first. The pair connect and then to up the ante, Rowan suggests a competition - they will be each given a serial killer to track down and kill - the first to succeed wins bragging rights or whatever the other proposes as a prize.
