Review: Crown of Midnight - Book #2 Throne of Glass Series - Sarah J. Maas - August 2013

One of my goals this year for 2024 is to read the entire list of Sarah J. Maas's books, so I found on Instagram an order a friend had put together that combined all of her three series - this was because there is some crossover of a couple of characters/ scenes or places. I have read the first three ACOTAR books and now it jumps to the TOG series and this was the second TOG book to read. Now there must be something with the book #2's in the series as the same thing that happened with the 2nd book in ACOTAR happened with this book. The beginning and most of the story for this one felt quite slow-paced for me and I was in that mindset of "If I wasn't determined to finish her books, then this would be a DNF". I however, persevered and pushed my way through the book and it did take me three days to read - in saying that the first two days I only read a couple of chapters but by day #3 I was determined to finish it and so I curled up in bed at night and started reading it and by the end of the night, I had proudly finished the book. Something I have noticed with SJM's books too is the last 100 pages or so of her stories end up being OMFG, action-packed parts and parts that leave you wanting more and to jump to the next story.  Without spoiling this one's ending, as it was a real banger - we find out the true identity of Cealean the King's Champion and it has left me all excited for the next book as I laughed at the ending and was like your plan has backfired Mr. King. I do hope that in Book #3 Cealean discovers her true identity or at least Dorian/ Chaol tells her.  I also loved the fact that Fae Magic has started to be introduced into TOG as of course, ACOTAR was all about the Fae Worlds.

  Review: Punk 57 - Penelope Douglas - October 2016 As soon as I read Bully by Penelope Douglas, I was in love with this author. So when she released a new one who had my favorite theme of penpals and that whole friend to lovers going on, I knew I had to read it.
