VBT# Beckon the Ravens - Bradon Nave

Review: Beckon the Ravens - Bradon Nave - January 2020 I had read five books previously by Bradon Nave and have enjoyed them and so when I saw his Beckon the Ravens up for grabs, I knew I had to read it. Now I read a lot of books and am not often confused but this particular book, right the way through there was just something off and I was so confused and even still a few days later milling over the book, I still don't have a full grasp of the novel which is why this review is hard to write. The book is set in two views - a past where we meet Meyrick and her family/friends who were part of a cult and then present where Meyrick - now Emily lives with Leroy. The past Meyrick loved Kaleb and his sister was her best friend. Now it seems Leroy is her partner and they live on a farm. Lately, Emily has been having hallucinations and visions of black raven feathers and killings have been occurring but in Emily's mind, it's not her killing but Anna and Q - two farm...

Review: Kacey Monroe - Bradon Nave

Review: Kacey Monroe - Book #2 Before We Fractured Series - Bradon Nave - May 2016 I had previously read three books by this author and enjoyed the first one in this series Jessie Kasper. It ended on a major cliffhanger, and I was like NOOOOO !! as I am so not one for cliffhanger endings. I finally got around to reading Book #2 and have to say that I wasn't feeling Kacey Monroe as much as I had the previous books and it left me a little disappointed. Kacey Monroe picks up where Jessie Kasper finished and is told from the viewpoint of Kacey. For those who had read the previous book, it ended with a rape scene. Jessie discovers what's happening and the pair is soon on the run. Sometimes I wonder what it would be like, not to be on the run but to just up and leave and disappear from my current life. The pair goes along their way and finds help with Avery. Of course, this ends up being a curse in the disguise of a blessing. I have to admit I found ...

VBT# Copper Lilies - Bradon Nave

Review: Copper Lilies - Bradon Nave - February 2016   When I saw that Bradon Nave had a book out as part of the tour, I knew I had to read it as I had previously read two of his earlier books and I loved them as they were both powerful and emotional reads. What I didn't expect though was that after not long finishing a book where the main character's brother passed away from AIDS - the book set in 1984 , that I would in a span of less than a month pick up another one with that particular topic. Copper Lilies is set in 1986 in San Francisco , in a time where AIDS is becoming more recognised as a fatal disease and the pride life is blooming. I have to admit, that I did struggle with this particular book as in parts found it hard to connect to the characters and to me the story felt disjointed. It did however, give me a snapshot of what it was like in the mid- 1980's with the rising of AIDS and making people aware of it and also letting people know th...
