Review: Repeat - Kylie Scott

Review: Repeat - Book #1 Larsen Brothers - Kylie Scott - April 2019 There's something so special about reading a book that landed in your hands as a birthday gift and getting to curl up with Repeat, sent to me by one of my beautiful book birthday groups on bookstagram, made this reading experience feel even warmer and more meaningful. Books really do taste sweeter when they come wrapped in friendship. Kylie Scott has long held a special place on my shelf as one of my favourite Australian New Adult authors. It all started years ago when I fell hopelessly in love with Mal from the Stage Dive series, and ever since, her name on a cover is enough to make me clear my schedule. Repeat opens with Clementine walking into a tattoo parlour, innocently asking if the owner did her tattoo completely unaware of the storm she's about to walk into. Turns out, she used to date the tattoo artist, Ed. They broke up, she walked away, and it shattered him. But here's the gut-punch: Clem doesn...

Review: Because the Night - Kylie Scott

Review: Because the Night - Kylie Scott - March 2025 Okay, let me be real with you all , I have been in a serious reading slump lately. You know the kind. You pick up book after book, read a few chapters, and just... nothing. No spark. No that pull that makes you want to cancel all your plans and stay up until 2am. It has been frustrating, and honestly a little heartbreaking for someone who lives and breathes books. So I did what any self-respecting book lover does in a crisis  I went back to a sure thing. I reached up to my trusty bookshelf and pulled down Because the Night by Kylie Scott. I have never once been let down by a Kylie Scott book, and after a recent rewatch of Vampires Suck had me deep in my Twilight feelings, the timing felt absolutely perfect. And you know what? It worked. Slump: shattered. In Because the Night , we meet Skye Carter, a property manager who makes the very unfortunate and very life-altering mistake of accidentally waking a sleeping vampire named Lu...

Review: Lies - Kylie Scott

Review: Lies - Kylie Scott - July 2019 There is nothing I love more about the Bookstagram community than our Book Birthday Groups . This July, I was lucky enough to receive Lies by Kylie Scott an author I’ve "one-clicked" ever since her Stage Dive series first rocked my world years ago. As one of my favorite Australian authors, she never misses, and this latest read was no exception. We meet Betty , who is finally ready to walk away from her fiancé, Thom. She’s tired of his boring job as an insurance assessor and his constant habit of putting work first. However, as she leaves the house, it explodes behind her. Suddenly, Betty is kidnapped and thrust into a world of chaos. It turns out Thom isn't boring at all , he’s a special services agent . With a target on his team’s back, Betty is caught in the crossfire, forced into a high-stakes fight for survival alongside her now-ex-fiancé Thom. This was a fantastic, high-octane read that gave me major John Wick adventure ...

Review: Fake - Kylie Scott

Review: Fake - Book #1 West Hollywood Romance Series - Kylie Scott - May 2021 As someone who's been following Kylie Scott's career since her Stage Dive series , I picked up Fake with high expectations. Kylie Scott has always been one of my favorite Australian authors—her ability to craft swoony heroes and relatable heroines consistently delivers the kind of comfort reads I crave after long days. While Fake doesn't break new ground in the fake dating trope, it offers exactly what you'd expect from a Kylie Scott novel: entertainment without complexity. The premise is deliciously familiar. Patrick Walsh, a scandal-plagued A-lister, needs a reputation makeover fast. Enter Norah Peers, a refreshingly ordinary waitress who's sworn off men entirely. Their arrangement? A no-strings fake romance that pays her bills while salvaging his career. Of course, real feelings complicate everything. What I appreciated most about Fake was Norah's authenticity. Kylie Scott excels ...

Review: Pause - Kylie Scott

Review: Pause - Book #2 Larson Brothers Series - Kylie Scott - July 2021 Kylie Scott has long been one of my favourite Australian romance authors, so when I found myself in a bit of a romance slump, I decided to turn to one of her titles sitting unread on my bookshelf. I needed something comforting, reliable, and engaging—and Kylie Scott delivered exactly that with Pause . Not only did this book reignite my love for romance reads, but it also earned Leif Larson a well-deserved spot on my Book Boyfriends Shelf. Pause kicks off with a dramatic and emotional hook: Anna awakens from a coma after a devastating car accident—seven months of her life gone. But what’s even more heartbreaking is what she wakes up to : the discovery that her husband, Ryan, has cheated on her with her best friend and the two are now expecting a baby together. Talk about a nightmare! While Anna expected to return to her old life, she instead finds herself starting over entirely. As Anna begins the difficult pro...

Review: The Last Days of Lilah Goodluck - Kylie Scott

Review: The Last Days of Lilah Goodluck - Kylie Scott - February 2024 This is one of those books where I am like why did it take me this long to get around to it? I enjoyed The Last Days of Lilah Goodluck way more than I had initially expected and I have to say I am not surprised as I have enjoyed all the Kylie Scott books that I have read which are mostly her Stage Dive series. I just loved the character of Lilah Goodluck as she was a bigger woman and down to earth and despite everything that was happening, she held her head high and had this kick-arse I am woman, hear me roar attitude. The other thing I loved was that Lilah is a librarian and falls for a prince as I am a sucker for the plain Jane x royalty romances -even if technically Alistair isn't in line for the throne - you have to read for his family story. Lilah was at her friend's party and then left early and on her way home, saved the life of the fortune teller witch Good Witch Willow. After she saved her, Good W...

Review: The Rhythm Method - Kylie Scott

Review: The Rhythm Method - Book #4.8 Stage Dive/ 1001 Dark Nights Series - Kylie Scott - November 2021 This month for me has been a weird slumpy month and when I get in these moods, I don't feel like I have the attention span to read a full-sized novel. When I do feel like this, then novellas are the best way for me to go.  This means I get to be reunited with my favourite band members of Stage Dive with books like The Rhythm Method by Kylie Scott. In this book, the band Stage Dive is currently on tour and David and Evelyn are getting used to married life as remember they hitched one night in Vegas and woke up accidentally married. Life has been an adjustment but going well. That is until , one night Evelyn wakes up with horrible cramping and ends up having a baby that she didn't even know she was pregnant with. This has thrown her and David's plans out the window as now they have to get with the programme and be parents instantly with their surprise baby. Most...

Review: Just What I Needed - Kylie Scott

Review: Just What I Needed - Book #4.9 Stage Dive Series - Kylie Scott - November 2022 One of my favourite Rockstar series that I read years ago was Stage Dive by Kylie Scott, I am still to this day a Mal fan ( he was the drummer). Over the past year, I discovered book raffles over on Instagram where if you win, people will buy books off your wishlist and so I decided to add some of the Stage Dive Novellas that I haven't yet explored. This one was a gift from @cassiehale71. I loved it as it gave me a stroll down memory lane as Just What I Needed brought back the whole Stage Dive cast + family members. In this book, we meet Jude who is the nanny for David and Evelyn's son. She lives in their house and is now one of the family. In Just What I Needed, she is about to get her music HEA as she meets music producer Dean Jennings who has come to work on a new Stage Dive album. Jude has never dated a musician or anyone remotely famous before and is not their "type" but can ...
