Review: Burning Secrets - Book #6.5 Count To Ten Series - Jane Blythe - November 2018 A favorite series of mine that I enjoyed was Australian author Jane Blythe's Count to Ten Series as I loved how all the characters connected right from the very first book to the last and by the time we read Book #10 you feel like you are a part of this crazy extended family and if any characters know tragedy then it is the main characters of the Count to Ten series throughout. Reading books with characters like this and seeing them overcome, makes you want to be as resilient as them - and yes, I know it's fiction but you can still aim to be like them. As I had just finished Book #10,  I had a look at the list and noticed a novella of which I was previously unaware. So I hopped on Amazon and one-clicked the book. Burning Secrets starts with the Oliver family being killed in a fire and it turns out to be arson and murder as the door was nailed shut from the outside.  Things though get a bit ...

Review: Ten - Book #10 Count to Ten Series - Jane Blythe - August 2019 As I got to Ten, I felt a bag of mixed emotions as it is the end of a great series which I have been reading and I felt connected with all the characters and it was great seeing them grow through the books and the new characters coming in and everyone just slotting in with together and overcoming so much tragedy and celebrating their triumphs but not without trials and tribulations. Book #10 introduced us to Tessa Micah-Bell who was married and now widowed to Detective Parker Bell from another of Jane Blythe's series. She has been widowed for almost 15 years now as her husband was killed and herself kidnapped by a stalker. Ten has Tessa kidnapped and now along with friends Wyatt who was Parker's old partner and Isaac - a criminal with connections who loves Tessa like his own daughter and our lovely crew of Ryan, Paige, Jack, and Xavier - the team will try and find Tessa. Along the way though others are being...

Review: Nine - Book #9 Count to Ten Series - Jane Blythe - June 2019 Nearly at the end of this series Count to Ten and it has been a great ride. I think I will miss this series as I have gotten to know the characters and have loved how each of the books is interconnected. This series has made you feel like you are part of a massive extended family and now it's like you have to move away and say goodbye. In Book #9  we read as Sophie is acting out as she was told by Ryan and Sofia how they adopted her and the dark side of her lineage and family line. Meanwhile, her best friend Hayley who was also adopted by Paige and kidnapped as a baby is trying to be the reasonable one. The crime happening in this book is girls at Hayley and Sophie's school are being kidnapped and then found posed dead 99 hours later. The police are stumped and after three dead bodies turning up, they are no closer to solving the crimes. What will happen though when the killers decide to up the ante and the...

Review: Eight - Book #8 Count to Ten Series - Jane Blythe - April 2019 Needing something to hit the spot, I knew I would love Jane Blythe's book Eight as I enjoyed the Count to Ten series so far. I think it's not just the mystery and crime aspect that I enjoy in her series but the family/ friendship saga of the series. In Book #8 we learn that Sofia Xander (Ryan’s wife) has spent some of the money she got from her psycho family and put it to good use by creating a safe space for women and children - a family shelter. One of the client's husbands has arrived at the shelter and wants his family back and determined not to let anyone stand in his way of it. He ends up harming Laura and holding the female’s hostage. They finally all get out except of course Laura who is holding on to her dear life in ICU. The aftermath has left Sofia shaken and pulling away from her family as she had to shoot her gun. Can Ryan bring her back to their family or is this the end of their HEA? Someo...

Review: Seven - Jane Blythe

Review: Seven - Book #7 Count to Ten Series - Jane Blythe - February 2019 The Count to Ten Series is one of the best mystery series I have read as each book follows the same set of people and each story connects one way or another. Seven focuses on Daisy Xander who is married to Mark Xander whose brother is Detective Ryan Xander and his partner is Paige Edwards. Still, following? The book starts with a runaway being kidnapped and taken to a place where she is about to discover she is being used as part of a baby trafficking business, after four babies - the girls are put to death as apparently after four births it becomes a bit harder for the females to procreate and survive childbirth. The book then jumps forward to the present time where we read as the local school principal is murdered and tortured. Daisy and Mark's youngest son is the one to find the body. We also learn that Daisy walked out on her family without any explanation. Is it connected to the principal's...

Review: Six - Jane Blythe

Review: Six - Book #6 Count to Ten Series - Jane Blythe - July 2018 What I love about this series by Jane Blythe is that right through the whole series, she has kept the same main characters and the serial killers all have connections to the cast. In this book, we start off with Paige in the hospital hanging for her life as Sofia's stalker once again has tried to eliminate her as the stalker is convinced that Paige is harming Sofia. When the stalker was revealed, I did think it made sense as he has featured in the books since the beginning. The twist though was how he is connected to Sofia, this blew me away as I was like WTF - I definitely did not see that coming but it made since hence his sociopathic/ serial killer tendencies. Jake's wife Laura has just had her baby which they named after the police officer who was killed in the previous book. Paige is adopting two little girls who were part of Malachi's kidnapping ring or wil...
