Review: Rumoured - Kelly and Kristina Mancaruso - July 2025 After abandoning my previous read as a DNF, I was desperately hoping my next book would reignite my reading spark. Enter Rumoured by sister duo Kelly and Kristina Mancaruso, purchased from BookHero NZ, and I'm thrilled to report I was absolutely hooked from the first page. The story opens with investigative journalist Naomi working for Celeb News in LA when breaking news explodes: beloved singer Harlow Hayes has been arrested for murder - multiple victims. The details are scarce, victims unnamed, and everything unfolds at breakneck speed. Naomi is immediately dispatched to New York to follow the story, but what begins as a celebrity scandal quickly transforms into something far more sinister and deeply personal. Upon arriving in New York, Naomi discovers unsettling connections between one of Harlow's alleged victims, Jade Dutton, and her own sister Faye's death. The similarities are too striking to ignore, and su...

Review: Georgetown Academy - Book #1 - Jessica Koosed Etting and Alyssa Embree Schwartz - October 2012 Scrolling through my Kindle and read my older books as I have been struggling with connecting to books this past month. I decided to give the first book in Georgetown Academy a go. I had gotten this series as the politics and high school angle had drawn me in. Georgetown Academy is made of students whose families are part of the Politic circle in the US. If you are a student in this school, it means your parents are part of this term's government in one way or another. This book follows four students - Evan, Brinley, Ellie, and Taryn. Four girls who are different in all aspects but have one thing in common - Politics.  Evan is one of the few kids at the school whose parents aren't in politics - they are Professors, etc. She is at Georgetown Academy on a scholarship and working this term as an intern at the newspaper in the Political area. She will have to become the eyes and ...

Review: They All Had a Reason - Book #1 - Michele Leathers - January 2021 This book captured my attention from the title and the sound of high school teen drama. Reading this thriller, reminded me of the book One of Us is Lying by Karen McManus and Pretty Little Liars, etc. Michele Leathers’s series is in the same wheelhouse of the genre - YA Thriller and a revenge trope filled with rumors, secrets, and lies. We have our main evil Queen B - Bellamy who everyone loves and hates at the same time. She is very manipulative and even drove her mother away. If she doesn't like you, then she will make your life hell. On the night of her birthday party, Bellamy is found dead, or is she? Everyone becomes a suspect and must accept she is gone, however Charlotte who saw her body - isn't 100% convinced and determined to find out what happened to her. What Charlotte doesn't realize though is that she will open a big fat Pandora's box and everyone is not who they seem and she will fin...

Review: Life Unaware - Cole Gibsen

Review: Life Unaware - Cole Gibsen - April 2015 Reagan Flay has spent her whole life trying to be perfect and the best at everything, always making sure things go her way and presenting this image of someone who has everything under control especially as she is always under the scrutiny of her mother who is a politician. The thing though is Reagan underneath isn't a nice person and has done awful things to stay on top of things. In a way, her character reminded me of Regina George with her "burn book" and the need to dig dirt on others so she can always have the upper hand. The thing though is that what goes up, must come down and Reagan is about to have her perfect image exploded when she walks into a school and finds her texts, emails, and private conversations she has had about people plastered all over the school. In a split moment, Reagan has gone from popular to outcast as her true colors are revealed. However, is this the wake-up call that Reagan needed as she has ...
