Review: The Wife Upstairs - Freida McFadden - March 2020 Sylvia has just gotten out of a toxic relationship and is inching close to eviction from her apartment, she just needs to find a new job. On a day that seems to go to crap, she is given a sliver of hope as she meets Adam Bennett. He is looking for someone to act as his wife's live-in companion as a few years ago his wife had an accident and fell down the stairs. Sylvia accepts even though it just seems too good to be true. She is about to discover that, that is the case as Victoria leads Sylvia to her diary that she kept from when she first met Adam and leading up to their marriage and living in this big house. As Sylvia reads it, she starts to see another side of Adam one that paints him as a bad guy and possibly the source of why Victoria fell down the stairs. As Sylvia gets closer to Adam, she is asked by Victoria to grab his gun for her as Adam needs to "die". When things start to spiral, Sylvia will find hersel...

Review: The Fury - Alex Michaelides

Review: The Fury - Alex Michaelides - January 2024 August 2024, was a slump of a month when it came to reading. I only managed 16 books, which really is a slack month and the thing too was I didn't have a lot going on but I know I had been busy with work and just tired/exhausted when I got home. I also haven't been feeling like romances or fantasy as I find romances I can get bored with if I'm not in the right mood and fantasy are books, I have to have the brainpower to think about. For me, thrillers are my go-to reads as they keep me entertained. This one caught my attention with the seven of us on the island and one of us is a murderer tagline. I love these sorts of reads. The book starts with us reading as six people arrive on a Greek Island called Aura. The trip though will end in one of those seven people ending up dead and one of them being a murderer. This book was an easy read and told from the unreliable narrator's POV. I also loved Alex's writing as it w...

Review: Patricia Wants to Cuddle - Samantha Allen - June 2022 This book caught my attention with its quirky cover and title. It reminded me of a film festival-type read and screamed fun and weird. It was this and more as we are initially introduced to a reality show called The Catch - it is similar to The Bachelor. The show is almost coming to an end with the finals as we are down to four females left vying for the chance to be the chosen one and date Jeremy - our sleazy creepy Bachelor. The four remaining are Vanessa, Renee, Lilah Mae, and Amanda. Each with its roles to play - Renee is black and bisexual, Vanessa is your beauty and brains, Lilah-Mae is your social Christian Influencer, and Amanda - is a beauty but airhead. The semi-finals are being held on a remote island called Otter Island. Things are a bit off though when they arrive, as Dex sees an arm in the water and Mike swerves his car and almost hits a hairy naked big man. During the book, strange things are happening around ...
