Review: Shrinking Cin - Book #1 After Tales Series - EL George - November 2021 I always know that I am going to love the book when it is published by Erin Lee under her pseudonym EL George. Based on her own experience working as a social worker with children in the US, she has written several different books. Each one always touches some part of me as I can relate to it. You know those types of families were from the outside looking in, the family looks like your perfect happy family but it was a mess - that was my family growing up. As the oldest in my family, I often said that my life resembled Cinderella as my two younger siblings were never forced to do work, yet I had to clean and as soon as I turned 15 - I had to get a job and pay rent as well as provide for myself so my first job I was getting $80 a week and $40 of that went to rent and the rest was to pay for my school uniform, clothes, books, phone top-ups as cellphones were just starting to be the rage back then. Review: Doppelgangers - Erin Lee and Lorah Jayin - January 2020 I have to admit I was in two minds with this book as I did enjoy it but thought it could have been a tad different as it wasn't what I expected from the title Doppelgangers. The book starts with us being introduced to Neri who is a special education teacher who lives alone, now that she is divorced and her children are in college. Neri receives an email from a concerned Aunt known as Harlo. Neri received it as she is stepping in for the current teacher Debbie who is on maternity leave. Harlo claims that her niece Laura is in danger and that her parents are abusing her by making her sick etc. Laura supposedly is on the spectrum, but when Harlo gets into Neri's mind, she starts testing Laura and is very surprised when things don't start to add up with the "autism" diagnosis.  We learn that Harlo is also single but quite a hard woman and works as a child social worker dealing with children who have bee...

Review: Gone to Her Grave - Book #2 Rogue River Series - Melinda Leigh - October 2014 So this seems to be another series I have read backward as I had previously read Books #3 and #4 and now this is Book #2. The good thing about this series is that they can be read as a standalone and at the same time they do connect. As I had read the later books, some of the storyline in Book #2 I already knew the answers too and in other places, it was good to get some background information. If you love mysteries then Melinda Leigh is an author to discover as she not only writes smalltown set mysteries but she has a sense of community and family despite the dysfunctionality of some of the families. In Rogue River, we have Carly - who is a social worker and is currently separated to husband Seth who is a police officer. Carly has moved home after her father who was the sheriff died of a heart attack which in later books was revealed to be something of a more sinister nature. In Book #2 we have Car...
