Review: Barren Cape - Michelle Prak - April 2025 Scrolling through my Libby Library books, I came across this Australian thriller called Barren Cape which sounded up my alley. The book starts with Mac and Elise being evicted from their home as the landlord wants to use it as a holiday home as he can get $200 a night with it. Elise heads back home to her parents, but Mac, she has no one and couch surfs for a while until she finds herself with no other option than to sleep in her car.  Driving around, Mac comes across Barren Cape which is out in South Adelaide. It was to be a luxury hotel but of course, when COVID hit, the money dried up and now the luxury hotel is just a concrete shell with a few rooms. Review: Girls Love Travis Walker - Anne Pfeffer- March 2013 I have decided that I need to be firm and try and clear my old books and not buy any new books and so I scrolled through and grabbed Girls Love Travis Walker by Anne Pfeffer. Going in blind, I wasn't sure what to expect but it was such a good read and I found myself enjoying it a lot more than I thought. The book starts with introducing us to Travis Walker who seems like a playboy but deep down he is experiencing a lot of issues from the fact his dad is in Jail, his mum is sick and he is trying to keep the house afloat by working multiple jobs which have resulted in him leaving school for now. During one of his rides home, he witnesses the heroic acts of some firefighters and this inspires him to want to become one of them and make a difference. During the book, we read as Travis's life becomes a series of messes and if he's not careful then everything will come crashing down. I know often, especially for men, tha...

Review: Like Father, Like Son - Book #2 Ali Cross Series - James Patterson - June 2021 This was one title I had been waiting for ages to get my hands on and read, no longer working in the library - gone are the days when I got the first picks and also got to see what was released as soon as they came into the library. Recently, I decided to sign up for the Libby library app and OMG it is amazing I have been able to catch up on some of my favorite authors and their reads and discover new authors. One of my all-time favorites would still have to be James Patterson despite people saying he is overrated now and just pumps them out. One of my favorite James Patterson books is the Alex Cross series and in the tradition of authors like Harlan Coben and John Grisham as they released series with the children being the detectives. Ali Cross series is based on Alex Cross's youngest child and the one who is most like his father in terms of having a big heart as well as a passion for justice,...
