Review: His Soul to Keep - Book #1 Frankie Dawson PI - Melinda Woodhall - November 2022 I am a big fan of Melinda Woodhall's series as I have read and completed almost four of her series and so when I saw that Frankie Dawson who I had met in her other books was getting his spin-off, there was no doubt about that I was going to read it. In this book, Frankie Dawson's marriage is on the rocks and he has just gotten a phone call and email to say an old friend Dwight is dying and hasn't got long left. Frankie heads to his hometown and is too late as he finds that Dwight and Cheryl have been murdered. He ends up being narrowed on as the main suspect, but of course, the only one who knows the truth is Josie- Dwight and Cheryl's daughter and she is being hunted too. Can Frankie protect them both and discover what is happening as he soon finds himself right in the middle of a decades-long serial killer known as The Wolf Creek Killer murder spree. The killer also connects to Fra...

Review : Valley of Evil - Book #6 Bridget Bishop Series - Melinda Woodhall - May 2023 When all else fails for books, I find that going to read thrillers keeps my attention, and what better author to do that than one of my favorites Melinda Woodhall? Bridget Bishop is back with Book #6 in her series and it takes her to Wilde Valley when her father Bob's Private Investigation business is hired to find Kendra's missing parents. While in Wilde Valley, a dead body is found - a girl who went missing the night before. Soon Bridget realizes that they are standing over a sunflower meadow of graves and that the missing parents might be here among the four bodies buried.  During this time, a letter is sent to the press and police from someone called The Wilde Reaper who is determined to rid Wilde Valley of those who have sinned and it's time to reap what they have sown or in this case stolen. It looks like it stems back to the Wilde family and dark family secrets that were swept under...

Review: Road to Evil - Book #4 Bridget Bishop FBI Series - Melinda Woodhall - September 2022 One of my favorite authors is Melinda Woodhall as I have loved all her different series and how one way or another they just interconnect and flow together. The Bridget Bishop Series is the fourth series of her's that I am going through and after this, there are two more - the Bailey Flynn and Frankie Dawson. In Road to Evil, the Backwoods Butcher who Bridget Bishop put away after catching him when no one else could have escaped from the courthouse. What will he do, now that he is free? Will he chase down the people who put him behind bars or is he just wanting to be free and start over? The thing is though that there is another killer known as Max Bender and he is determined that he will never be caught as he almost got away with it once before with Tammy Vickers, but new DNA has come to light. This causes Max to come up with a plan and kill a few more in the style of Grady if the police a...

Review: When Evil Calls - Melinda Woodhall

Review: When Evil Calls - Book #5 Bridget Bishop FBI Series -Melinda Woodhall -February 2023 One of my favourite go-to female authors for mysteries is Melinda Woodhall and if you enjoy authors like Melinda Leigh and Kendra Elliot then you will also enjoy her books. The other thing that I love about Melinda's different series is that the characters crossover and so in this series we are connecting with Charlie Day, Opal, and a few others that we have seen in the Mercy Harbor, Veronica Lee, and Detective Ainsley series. I find this helps to bring the characters more to life and makes you more so invested in the story too. In When Evil Calls, Bridget is called to help investigate a new murder of Trinity Drexel. This murder looks like it is connected to the three from eight years ago. One of those three was her good friend Vic Santino's wife. Now it looks like the murderer is back to kill others and tie up loose ends as she got away with it once before, what's not to say she ...

Review: Where Evil Hides - Book #3 Dr Bridget Bishop Series - Melinda Woodhall - July 2022 Bridget never means to get involved and reeled back into the world of profiling and the FBI's unit of the BAU.  Every time she says this is the last time, she finds herself being pulled back into the limelight and drama of the FBI. In her current workload, she was writing a report about the Montclairs and their daughter Cassidy. Monty Montclair and his second wife Scarlet are getting a divorce and with a child in the mix, Bridget must write a report to see who gets custody. Unfortunately for Bridget - the dad has NPD and the mum has BPD. What happens though when Monty's latest mistress Harmony is found murdered and it looks like Monty is the main suspect? The thing though is he has an alibi, as he was in a session with Bridget Bishop. Her involvement with the family will have Bridget reeled back in and profiling who the real killer is. This was quite a twisted read as I h...

Review: Taken By Evil - Melinda Woodhall

Review: Taken By Evil - Book #2 Bridget Bishop FBI Series - Melinda Woodhall - April 2022 As readers, we all have authors that we see as our must-reads whenever they release a new book. One of them for me is Melinda Woodhall. I have always enjoyed her thrillers and I love how over all her series; she connects the characters. In this particular series, our crossover characters are our FBI agents Tristan Hale and Charlie Day, along with Opal - our ME and Viv - all of these characters we have seen in other series by Melinda Woodhall. Taken by Evil has a couple of wonderful storylines our main one being the guest motivational speaker Tate Evans. Tate is all about leaving the past in the past, which makes sense after what he went through as a child but someone from his past who people assumed was dead is back with a vengeance. Back when Tate was young, he was sent to live on a boy's ranch, and here he met Champ who also suffered abuse at the hands of the ranch leaders. Champ sees Tate a...

Review: Lessons in Evil - Melinda Woodhall

Review: Lessons in Evil - Book #1 Bridget Bishop FBI series - Melinda Woodhall - February 2022 After finishing the past three series that Melinda Woodhall has written, I was excited for a new set of characters and also to see how she would bring past characters to this series as that is what I have found her known for, crossing characters over her multiple series. In the Bridget Bishop FBI series, we first meet Bridget who is working as a psychologist after experiencing a bit of a breakdown while working as a profiler at the BAU. Bridget is an empath so her emotions get the better of her when dealing with serial killers. Meanwhile, it looks like she is needed back at the FBI as a new serial killer is using the same MO as the Shenandoah Strangler - someone who has now been executed as Bridget watched him die, he requested that she be the only one present as the two had formed a strange bond and her father Bob Bishop was the one to catch him. Another girl has gone missing and the FBI is ...
