Review: King of Evanston - Book #3 King of the Castle Series - JL Campbell - December 2019 This particular series has been on my Kindle for a couple of years and finally, after reading Book #3, I have finished the series. It's taken me a while and yes, I did read it slightly out of order but the good thing with this series is as long as you read Book #1 first, the others can be read out of order or as standalones, though there are some parts the crossover into other books. Years ago, one of the main guys of the Castle - Khali found a group of boys from all over Chicago and he saw potential in them and mentored them. In a way, they all became his sons and formed a brotherhood. When Khali was shot, he called them back to have their seat at the Castle and return it to order and the legal way of business as some dodgy work had been happening. One of those members holds the area of Evanston. His name is Shaz and he is a lawyer that helps immigrants with whatever they need. In some cases...

Review: King of Devon - Book #4 Kings of the Castle Series - Naleighna Kai - December 2019 After having a bad week of DNF's, I decided to go back and read some older books, especially those part of series or authors I had previously enjoyed. Scrolling through my kindle, I came across another book which is part of the Kings of the Castle series - each book besides the first can be read as a standalone which means if you are like me and read series out of order it's alright. In King of Devon, we meet Jai who for years has thought that he and Vikkas who is also part of the Castle could pass for brothers and turns out they really are half-brothers and that the web of family secrets runs very deep between each of the brothers' families. I have been looking forward to reading this book as we had hinted in the other books of the series about Jai's story.  Each of the Kings in their brotherhood has a specialty that they bring to the table and Jai's is the art of healing a...

Review: King of Lincoln Park - Martha Kennerson

Review: King of Lincoln Park - Book #7 Kings of the Castle Series - Martha Kennerson - December 2019 With the new series Knights of the Castle being released, I figured I should get back into reading the few remaining books I have in the Kings of the Castle series. This time we are traveling to the Lincoln Park jurisdiction where we meet our allocated King - Grant Khambrel. Grant is our architect and construction guru of the team, anything building or property needs he is your guy. As like the other Kings having to go up against bad guys,  Grant is up against Alderman Knight who is still stewing about the Castle changing hands and his list of preferred vendors being ousted. After blackmailing Grant, Alderman Knight wants Grant to do his bidding to the great Khali - his mentor and second father-figure. What Alderman Knight didn't bank on though was that Grant would not only be an upstanding guy and care about others but also would fall in love with his daughter Autumn. Can Grant not...

Review: King of Morgan Park - Karen D. Bradley

Review: King of Morgan Park - Book #5 Kings of the Castle Series - Karen D. Bradley - December 2019 It's been a wee while since I read a Kings of the Castle series, so was scrolling through my kindle and came to King of Morgan Park by Karen D. Bradley. I have to admit, I wasn't feeling the same love of the Castle members in this book and if it hadn't featured some of the characters from the other books it wouldn't have felt like one either as the King of Morgan Park has been named and it is Daron Kincaid. Unlike the others, Daron didn't go to the same school as them but he did know Khali as he was his sort of mentor. The other different thing is that Daron inherited his seat at the table from Bishop who was a Crime Boss. We do have Daron's love interest as Cameron who was a former assassin/hitwoman and then we do have bad guys that are threatened by Daron and want him run to the ground, or better killed which again was similar to the other stories as Daron...
