Review: What I've Done - Book #4 Morgan Dane Series - Melinda Leigh - September 2018 Melinda Leigh has crafted yet another gripping entry in her Morgan Dane series with *What I’ve Done*, a thrilling tale that effortlessly pulls readers back into a world of suspense and family ties. This fourth installment centers around the mysterious murder of Noah Carter and the plight of Haley Powell, a young woman awash in confusion and blood, completely unaware of the events that led to waking up next to a corpse. As a fan , I found this novel a refreshing remedy to my recent reading slump, bridging the gap between mystery and emotional depth in a way that only the best thrillers can achieve. Morgan Dane, alongside her investigative partners Lance and Lincoln, takes on the daunting task of defending Haley, a client burdened by overwhelming evidence suggestive of her guilt. The story opens with Haley’s terrifying realization: she is the prime suspect in a murder she cannot remember committing...

Review: Minutes to Kill - Book #2 Scarlet Falls Novel - Melinda Leigh - June 2015 I had tried hard to try and clear my TBR bookshelf this month in June. However, the majority of books I tried, I just couldn't get into. Therefore, my trusty Kindle came in handy, and turned to ebooks that had been sitting on my ebook reader for a while. I have always enjoyed reading Melinda Leigh's mysteries and so I turned to one set in Scarlet Falls. Minutes to Kill starts by us reading as a young teenager is trying to escape her pimp as her dream of living a new life turned into a nightmare. On this evening, she runs into Hannah who is a lawyer. Hannah does her best to try and help, but in doing so is attacked and almost left for dead. The young teen is snatched and Hannah ends up in hospital. This event coincides with her heading back home to Scarlet Falls as she is planning to housesit for her brother and also learn some more about her sibling's case who was recently kill...

Review: She Can Run - Melinda Leigh

Review: She Can Run - Book #1 She Can Series - Melinda Leigh - November 2011 This particular author I enjoyed and if you love authors like Kendra Elliott and Kate Watterson and Melinda Woodhall, then you will enjoy her crime reads. On the other hand, this particular series has been a hit/miss for me as I find I either enjoy them or they have been DNFs. She Can Run was up my alley with the main character leaving her husband in the middle of the night with her children after he tried to kill her in a fit of rage. Beth now has accepted a job as a caretaker, but when she turns up and learns that her new prospective employer is dead and his nephew Jake has taken over the property. Feeling sorry and knowing Beth is hiding from something and the fact that his Uncle Danny had good instincts, he hires her and she starts to care for the horses. Over time Jake and Beth will start to have feelings, but with Beth always having to be one step ahead and stay alert, she can't let herse...

Review: Gone to Her Grave - Melinda Leigh

Review: Gone to Her Grave - Book #2 Rogue River Series - Melinda Leigh - October 2014 So this seems to be another series I have read backward as I had previously read Books #3 and #4 and now this is Book #2. The good thing about this series is that they can be read as a standalone and at the same time they do connect. As I had read the later books, some of the storyline in Book #2 I already knew the answers too and in other places, it was good to get some background information. If you love mysteries then Melinda Leigh is an author to discover as she not only writes smalltown set mysteries but she has a sense of community and family despite the dysfunctionality of some of the families. In Rogue River, we have Carly - who is a social worker and is currently separated to husband Seth who is a police officer. Carly has moved home after her father who was the sheriff died of a heart attack which in later books was revealed to be something of a more sinister nature. In Book #2 we have Car...
