Review: Not the Plan - Gia De Cadenet

Review: Not the Plan - Gia De Cadenet - February 2023 After reading quite a few thrillers, I needed something a bit light-hearted and on my library holds from the Libby App was Not the Plan by Gia De Cadenet. This is one of those star-crossed political party romances. You would think that if they are on the same side then they would be friends but they are viewed as the Capulets and Montagues - a Romeo and Juliet scenario and now our two main characters Isadora and Karim are about to find themselves the stars in their own Romeo and Juliet love story. Not the Plan starts with a not-so-graceful #meetcute at the airport and then they find themselves seated next to each other on the plane. They find themselves chatting away and go their separate ways. The thing is neither of them can get the other out of their heads, imagine their surprise when they find them on opposing political sides and that if they ever were to get involved with one another - it could lead not only to them both losi...

Review: Bury Me - Selena

Review: Bury Me - Book #3 Willow Heights Prep Academy: The Elite - Selena - July 2020 This book like quite a few others on my devices, I have had sitting there since its release date. Being on holiday, I figured I would catch up on reading a bit more with my spare time and like most time off it's gone so fast. As you will recall in this series - the Dolces and the Darlings are warring families and it seems Devlin and Crystal are in a bit of a Romeo and Juliet type relationship.  During the majority of this book, we see Royal - Crystal's twin trying to settle back into reality after his terrible kidnapping ordeal which later shocked me when we found out about the truth behind it. Crystal and Devlin fell in love, they didn't mean too but as the saying is "you can't help who you love" and sometimes like Crystal and Devlin will have to make the hard choice to choose love over family. Bury Me by Selena was a rocky ride and also I am glad that Crystal's friends ...

Review: Of Curses and Kisses - Sandhya Menon

Image
Review: Of Curses and Kisses - Sandhya Menon - February 2020 One of my favorite things that I love to read is renditions of classics and fairytales and so when I saw Of Curses and Kisses and how it was a modern take on Beauty and the Beast, I just had to give it a go. This book also ticks the box of diversity in YA fiction as the main characters are Indian and British and are written by an AOC. Jaya's family is Indian Royalty - the Raos and Grey's family is British Royalty - the Emersons. Years ago when Britain invaded India, the Emersons stole a ruby from the Raos and the Raos cursed the Emersons and that one day their line would end when the last heir turned 18. Grey this year will be turning 18.  The Raos and the Emersons are like the Hatfields and the McCoys. After Jaya's sister was humiliated and the evidence pointed towards the Emersons, Jaya concocts a plan to hurt Grey by getting him to fall in love with her, and then she will break his heart and...
