Review: Never Forget You - Fiona Lucas

Review: Never Forget You - Fiona Lucas - September 2022 I was left in two minds after reading this book as it was one of my favorite tropes and one of those soulmates/true love, once-in-a-lifetime love stories but at the same time, I had picked it up as the back seemed like it would be emotional and the book boasted an emotional journey which I had hinted possible crying in spots and that was what I happened to be in the mood for. Unfortunately, this book didn't make me cry or tear up but it was a #meetcute romance love story, one of those once-in-a-lifetime love reads where despite obstacles and time passing, you know that these two people are just supposed to be together. The book starts with Lilli and Ben who meet each other in London in a secret garden and spend the next 3 hours together. Ben wishes he could stay longer, but for the next year, he is about to embark on his big trip around the world. The pair make a goal to meet each other at the church, a year from now. One year...

Review: Bound to Happen - Jonathon Shannon

Review: Bound to Happen - Jonathon Shannon - August 2023 This book caught my attention with the whole idea of missed connections and soulmates and then the geeky storyline of our main characters. But wowza this was such an amazing read and if you ever had any doubts that guys cannot write romance, then you need to stop what you are doing and read Bound to Happen as this is a testament to guys being able to write romantic love stories but not soppy ones. This hit all the right spots for me, especially in the fact that it is a slow-burn romance right up to the very last page normally I cannot stand slow-burn romances as they seem to drag on and on but this one just worked perfectly and it needed to be a slow burn for the story to play out. The book starts with Sophie who is a astrophysicist like Raj from the Big Bang Theory and dreams of working for NASA as she's all about space and string theory. Her thesis is about space debris. Sophie has dedicated her life to ac...

VBT# Missed Connections - Tamara Mataya

Review: Missed Connections - Book #1 Summer Love - Tamara Mataya - June 2016 I am a sucker for true romance stories and the whole "missed connections' and personal ads type tale so I knew I would be in love with this book and it turned out to be an amazing read. I remember when I was younger we used to get this magazine at home called the Trade Exchange and in it was a section called Personals and I used to sit there and read all the personal ads and the "wanted relationship" ads. Like Sarah, deep down I dreamed that when I was older that I might get an ad as it was such a romantic gesture and in a way I did about 15 years ago but through a text message , that whole secret crush - then revealed themselves in person through my checkout. Though have to admit, the dating period didn't last long LOL. In Missed Connections, it starts off with Sarah getting a new job working as a receptionist at a new age spa called "Inner Spaces". She's ...

Review: The Proverbial Mr. Universe - Maria La Serra - June 2016 I am a sucker for true romance stories and have a thing for the personal ads section, when I was younger I loved reading the personal ads and the missed connections. I haven't read them in a long time as I don't really read newspapers anymore and when I was younger my parents used to buy a magazine called the Trade Exchange which had a list of them in the back. As soon as I opened The Proverbial Mr. Universe we are presented with a small Missed Connections Ad addressed to the :Girl in the Red Scarf. We readers wonder whether the two finally met or whether the girl in the red scarf saw the piece even before we start the story.  This I found drew me in as a reader . We then start with the story and discover that The Girl with the Red Scarf is already in a solid or so we think relationship as they are at her engagement party. During the engagement party, we get hints that the relationship is standin...
