Review: Just One Bite - Miranda Rijks

VBT# Review - Just One Bite - Miranda Rijks - June 2026 There are some authors whose names alone are enough to make me drop everything else on my TBR pile, and Miranda Rijks is absolutely one of them. So when I saw Just One Bite popping up for a Zooloos Book Tours stop, I didn't even need to read the blurb twice , I just knew. And then there's that cover. Honestly, who can resist a gorgeous, glossy cupcake staring back at them? It's the kind of cover that makes you want to curl up with a cuppa (and probably an actual cupcake) before you've even cracked the spine. This story pulled me in from the very first page. We meet Tyler and Brittany, a glamorous "power couple" with a little daughter, Alissa. Brittany is the main breadwinner, a recognisable TV personality, but underneath the glossy exterior she's been quietly struggling since severe postnatal depression left her feeling disconnected from her own child. Their nanny, Riley, has really been the one hol...

VBT# He is Mine - Theo Baxter

Review: He is Mine - Theo Baxter - March 2026 Oh, where do I even begin with this one? I picked this up on a Saturday morning with a cup of tea and a couple of milk arrowroot biscuits and absolutely did not move from my bed until I'd turned the last page. You know that feeling when a book just grabs you by the collar and refuses to let go? That's exactly what this did to me. From the very first chapter, I got those delicious, unsettling vibes that took me straight back to The Housemaid  that creeping sense that something in this beautiful, perfect house is deeply, horribly wrong. And if you, like me, have a soft spot for those "I'm the nanny and this is going to end very badly for everyone" psychological thrillers, then pull up a chair, because this one belongs right at the top of that pile. Crystal Tannenbaum arrives in LA with stars in her eyes and dreams tucked under her arm. She's going to make it. She just knows it. And in a way, she does land herself a...

Review: The Royals Upstairs - Karina Halle

Review: The Royals Upstairs - Karina Halle - September 2024 There's something magical about receiving the perfect book at just the right moment. When "The Royals Upstairs" by Karina Halle arrived as a birthday gift from one of my wonderful bookstagram groups, I had no idea I was about to fall head over heels for this charming romance. Holding this paperback in my hands felt like unwrapping a cozy hug and that's exactly what this story delivered. From the very first page, I was swept into pure Hallmark royal movie territory, and I mean that in the absolute best way. This book has all those deliciously swoon-worthy elements we crave: a brooding bodyguard, a spirited nanny, adorable royal children (who James hilariously describes as "demon children"), and a picturesque Norwegian estate that practically begs you to curl up with a warm blanket and get lost in its pages. James Hunter and Laila Bruset's second-chance romance absolutely captivated me. There...

Review: Worst Nanny Ever - Angela Casella

Review: Worst Nanny Ever - Book #2 Babes of Brewing Series - Angela Casella - September 2025 I’ll be honest—this cover had me at hello. Paired with the cheeky title Worst Nanny Ever, I knew I was diving into a rom-com that would tick all my boxes. I’ve always had a soft spot for nanny stories, probably because I nearly became one myself after leaving school. My dad, ever the realist, hired a career counsellor to steer me elsewhere—and here I am today, blogging instead of babysitting. Still, that “what if” lingers, and books like this let me live out the alternate path. Angela Casella delivers a delightful single dad romance that’s equal parts heartwarming and hilarious. Travis, our broody hero, suddenly finds himself with a seven-year-old genius named Ollie—who, by the way, completely stole my heart. Ollie is precocious, opinionated, and knows exactly what he wants: Hannah as his nanny. Not just any nanny, mind you—Hannah is loud, messy, and unapologetically herself. She’s everythi...

Review: Love Unwritten - Lauren Asher

Review: Love Unwritten - Book #2 Lakefront Billionaires - Lauren Asher - June 2024 I'm finally catching up on my July 2025 review writing  and I had to close out the month with another Lauren Asher masterpiece. As someone who absolutely devoured the Dreamland Billionaires series, discovering that Lakefront Billionaires had even the tiniest crossover was all the excuse I needed to dive headfirst into this world again. And just like with Dreamland, I'm completely hooked and already counting down the days until Book #3. Let me be honest – at first glance, Love Unwritten is intimidating. These chunky contemporary romances seem to be the trend lately, and while I sometimes worry about pacing, Lauren Asher has this magical ability to make you forget you're reading 400+ pages. Before I knew it, I was completely lost in Rafael and Ellie's story. The setup initially feels familiar – grumpy billionaire single dad meets his son's nanny – but Lauren Asher elevates this trop...

Review: Second Edition - Cleo White

Image
Review: Second Edition - Cleo White - August 2024 This book captured my attention from Literally Yours PR as they had it on offer to review with the single word "Librarian", the second thing was this gorgeous cover. Though the cover gives off a historical fiction vibe, this was a more contemporary romance. The book starts with Jo telling her mother who happens to be the Dean of a University that she doesn't want to continue her study to be a physicist. She isn't happy anymore following that dream which was her father's as he is the scientist of the family. That same night, her mother is throwing a faculty mixer and Jo wanders into their library and spots a handsome man sitting there doing a puzzle, his name is Ellis, and works as a librarian for the College. One thing leads to another and the two leave the party and Jo loses her V-card in the back of his car. A few weeks later, Ellis who we learn is a single father to a 6 year autistic daughter is called into th...

Book Spotlight - Second Edition - Cleo White

Image
In retrospect, it might not have been the wisest idea to hand in my v-card to a hot librarian I picked up at my mother’s cocktail party.  Second Edition, an all-new single dad, age-gap, contemporary romance from bestselling author Cleo White is now available! In my defense, the man has a French accent, gray hair, and knows a lot about books. The cards were really stacked against me making good choices, folks. I was probably naïve to expect a call after that, but when he didn’t, it hurt to accept he didn’t feel that same connection I did. If that isn’t a sign you need to make a change, I don’t know what is. Too bad the “change” I get is six months in a remote French chateau, working as a nanny to an adorable little girl. Who happens to be the daughter of the single dad I had sex with in a grocery store parking lot. Ellis Delvaux has made it clear he isn’t interested in a relationship. Unfortunately, when you’re a hopeless romantic spending that much time wi...
