Review: Then Things Went Dark - Bea Fitzgerald

Review: Then Things Went Dark - Bea Fitzgerald - September 2024 A theme that I have always enjoyed reading for years is reality TV in books. I became a fan of this trope after reading years ago Dead Famous by Ben Elton which was a Big Brother-themed story with a murder. Ever since then, if I come across books with a similar theme I will give them a go. In Then Things Went Dark by Bea Fitzgerald which was a book exchange gift, we have six influencers or fifteen minutes of fame stars who need to either prove themselves or redeem themselves in society, and what better way to do that than on a reality TV set on a beautiful island and with an enticing prize pool of money. This show will push these contestants into revealing their deepest darkest secrets with the hope that the world will never hear them spying on their fellow contestants. On the island, there will be friendships formed, alliances made, sleeping with one another, and backstabbing of course. Nothing is sacred when the whole ...

Pity Pact Whitney Dineen (Pity Series, #3) Publication date: January 24th 2024 Genres: Adult, Comedy, Contemporary, Romance I always wondered who was crazy enough to apply to those reality dating shows… Turns out, I’m that person. Paige Holland here—lifetime resident of Elk Lake, Wisconsin, and dedicated seventh-grade math teacher. Unfortunately, if I don’t fall for one of the two guys who live right in Elk Lake I might have to move. This limits my choices to a substitute teacher I can’t stand or Tim, a guy I went through school with. It’s not that I can’t see being with Tim—he’s totes my type—but he’s so wounded from his divorce, he’s made it clear he’s only on the show to make his ex-wife jealous. With one disaster after another being broadcast around the world, I’m seriously questioning why I thought a reality show was a good way to find love… Goodreads / Amazon — EXCERPT: Paige Who in the world is the new woman walking into the ballroom? She must be someone spec...

Review: Patricia Wants To Cuddle - Samantha Allen

Image
Review: Patricia Wants to Cuddle - Samantha Allen - June 2022 This book caught my attention with its quirky cover and title. It reminded me of a film festival-type read and screamed fun and weird. It was this and more as we are initially introduced to a reality show called The Catch - it is similar to The Bachelor. The show is almost coming to an end with the finals as we are down to four females left vying for the chance to be the chosen one and date Jeremy - our sleazy creepy Bachelor. The four remaining are Vanessa, Renee, Lilah Mae, and Amanda. Each with its roles to play - Renee is black and bisexual, Vanessa is your beauty and brains, Lilah-Mae is your social Christian Influencer, and Amanda - is a beauty but airhead. The semi-finals are being held on a remote island called Otter Island. Things are a bit off though when they arrive, as Dex sees an arm in the water and Mike swerves his car and almost hits a hairy naked big man. During the book, strange things are happening around ...

VBT# Doc Showmance - Zoe Forward

Review: Doc Showmance - Zoe Forward- January 2023 After reading a lot of thrillers and a few children's books, I needed something light and funny to break up the reading feelings. Doc Showmance was one of those laugh-out-loud romantic comedies with a geeky side to it. You know the ones where the female or male are into their careers and blunt and don't fit into anyone's boxes. I loved the main female of this book and clicked with her straight away. Doc Showmance introduces us to Amber who is busy working her residency as an emergency vet. The vet clinic also happens to currently be part of a reality TV show which Amber isn't keen on but the money helps pay the bills as she is the main breadwinner for her house of misfits which includes three of her foster siblings - Bruno who is studying to be a lawyer, Marino - the trouble one who is a gambling addict and Joley - a sexy ex-stripper now studying to be a dental hygienist. The reality TV producer wants more drama and ro...
