The book then jumps back and lawyer Lena Brooks is dead. Lena was one of the few friends that Gretchen had and she turned up to discover not only a dead body but also a cop she has a love/hate admiration for Detective Shaughnessy and his new partner Detective Marconi. Lena was representing Reed's daughter Viola on a murder charge. I have always had a fascination with reading novels about stalkers and trolls and discovering the dark side of the internet. As you hear stories of the dangers of things like internet dating and trolls. As there have been a few stories of authors attacking readers over comments and then there is doxxing which has been turned deadly with swatting. With the development of the internet and social media, I am sure those who created it never saw this side happening and crimes like murder, rape, and assault are dangerous and scary but those criminals are likely to be charged. Bullied by Vera Hollins was one of those bully stories that took a different twist. The book starts with Sarah moving into a new town with her mother and meeting her neighbors - twin brothers Hayden and Kayden. Hayden, she never warmed to as he always from day one treated her like she was dirt whereas Kayden became her best friend.
