Review: Notice Me - Suzana Thompson

Review: Notice Me - Suzana Thompson - December 2015 You know that feeling when you scroll through your Kindle and realize you have titles from years ago just gathering digital dust? I’ve decided that this is the year I finally stop ignoring my "backlog" in favor of flashy new releases. That’s how I found myself tucking into Notice Me by Suzana Thompson. We’ve all seen the setup before: the quiet, bookish new girl arrives at school, hoping to blend into the wallpaper, only to catch the eye of the campus playboy. Our protagonist, Emma, has been through the wringer. After having her heart shattered by the double betrayal of her ex-boyfriend and her best friend, she just wants to be invisible. But then there’s Tyler. Popular, charismatic, and used to getting what he wants, he initially views Emma as a "challenge" a conquest to be seduced. However, what started as a shallow game quickly shifts into something much deeper. What I appreciated most about Suzana Thompson’s w...

Review: God of Pain - Rina Kent

Review: God of Pain - Book #2 Legacy of Gods - Rina Kent - September 2022 After absolutely devouring God of Malice and falling head over heels for Rina Kent's Legacy of Gods series, I practically launched myself at Book #2. Let me tell you, diving into God of Pain with my expectations sky-high was both thrilling and slightly dangerous territory. God of Pain centres on Annika Volkov and Creighton King, serving up another delicious opposites-attract romance between the rival USA and UK universities. What I loved is how Rina Kent plays with expectations here. Annika lives on the UK side but her roots are firmly planted in American Mafia soil, while Creighton—adopted into the British King dynasty—is American-born. It's this beautiful tangle of identities and loyalties that made my brain very happy. Annika is everything: purple-obsessed, sunshine personified, radiating happiness whilst desperately trying to distance herself from her brother's dangerous world. When her father a...

Review: Worst Nanny Ever - Angela Casella

Review: Worst Nanny Ever - Book #2 Babes of Brewing Series - Angela Casella - September 2025 I’ll be honest—this cover had me at hello. Paired with the cheeky title Worst Nanny Ever, I knew I was diving into a rom-com that would tick all my boxes. I’ve always had a soft spot for nanny stories, probably because I nearly became one myself after leaving school. My dad, ever the realist, hired a career counsellor to steer me elsewhere—and here I am today, blogging instead of babysitting. Still, that “what if” lingers, and books like this let me live out the alternate path. Angela Casella delivers a delightful single dad romance that’s equal parts heartwarming and hilarious. Travis, our broody hero, suddenly finds himself with a seven-year-old genius named Ollie—who, by the way, completely stole my heart. Ollie is precocious, opinionated, and knows exactly what he wants: Hannah as his nanny. Not just any nanny, mind you—Hannah is loud, messy, and unapologetically herself. She’s everythi...

RELEASE BLITZ - The House Guest by Penelope Ward

Image
Title: The House Guest Author: Penelope Ward Genre: Standalone Contemporary Romance Tropes: Billionaire Hero/Roommates/Twist Slow Burn/Angsty/Opposites Attract Release Date: August 31, 2025 BLURB From New York Times bestselling author Penelope Ward comes a new, STANDALONE contemporary romance… The last thing Dorian Vanderbilt expected was to find me painting in my crop top when he returned to the mansion he hadn’t inhabited in years. He was understandably surprised I’d turned his living room into an art space. Life is certainly full of surprises, though, but not always in a good way. I learned that lesson when my aunt and the billionaire she married died unexpectedly while traveling. I’d been living with them, and just like that, my life was turned on its axis. Unsure of what was next, I stayed alone at the barren estate figuring out my next move. That was when Dorian—the late billionaire’s only son—showed up. I’d never met Dorian Vanderbilt. He’d been living on the other si...

Review: God of Malice - Rina Kent

Review: God of Malice - Book #1 Legacy of Gods Series - Rina Kent - July 2022 You know that feeling when a book series sits on your shelf for ages—taunting you with its hype, but you’re just not in the right headspace to dive in? That was me with God of Malice by Rina Kent. I’d heard whispers about the Legacy of Gods series, knew deep down I’d probably love it, but I hesitated. Maybe I was scared it wouldn’t live up to the buzz. Spoiler alert: it absolutely did. And then some. This book swept me right back to the early days of New Adult Bullymance—think Paper Prince by Erin Watt, C. Hallman’s gritty romances, and that delicious tension between danger and desire. Rina Kent nails that edgy vibe, and God of Malice reminded me why I fell for this genre in the first place. We meet Glyndon (yes, I kept wanting to call her Gwyndon too), standing on a cliff where her best friend supposedly took his own life. That moment hit hard. It’s raw, unsettling, and sets the tone for a story steeped...

Review: Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez

Review: Yours Truly - Book #2 Part of Your World Series - Abby Jimenez - April 2023 OMG you guys!!! I have FINALLY found a book that broke my reading slump! If you've been following my reviews lately, you know I've been struggling to find a romance that actually makes me FEEL something. After trudging through what felt like a desert of mediocre reads, "Yours Truly" by Abby Jimenez arrived like an oasis of everything I needed! Let me just say, this book HIT DIFFERENT. Like seriously, I was not prepared for how much it would wreck me in the best possible way. The minute I met Jacob, I literally saw myself in him. That awkward feeling when you're in a crowded room? CHECK. The way he sneaks off to eat by himself in quiet corners because social situations are exhausting? LITERALLY ME. As someone who constantly feels like I'm saying the wrong thing in social settings, watching Jacob navigate these same challenges while still being completely lovable was honestly s...

Review: Strange Sweetness - Taahesi B Williams

Image
Review: Strange Sweetness - Taahesi B. Williams - March 2025 Strange Sweetness is a slow-burn New Adult romance that offers both swoony moments and thoughtful emotional depth—though I did find myself questioning the meaning behind the title. The story was more sweet than strange, and while there were some quirky dynamics between the main characters, the title may lead readers to expect something a little more unconventional than what this heartfelt, trope-tickling romance delivers. Carmen “Maneater” Reyes is everything you’d expect from Eden University’s reigning queen bee: confident, charismatic, and seemingly unbothered—until she’s dumped publicly in class. The image she’s worked so hard to build crumbles, and with it, her faith in romance. Turning her attention to academics, Carmen swears off relationships, determined to regain control over her life. But letting go of her flirtatious ways is harder than expected, especially when someone new catches her eye. That someone is Theod...

Review: The Problem with Falling - Brittainy Cherry

Review: The Problem With Falling - Book #3 Problems Series - Brittainy Cherry - January 2025 One of my favorite authors is Brittainy Cherry, I just love her romances as they have tragedy, trauma, and a bit of grit to them but at the same time, they have true love, happiness, and good feelings. This has to be my favorite book of the first three, which was Willow's story. Willow has always been on the run and escaping her hometown as she is known as either the girl whose mum died giving birth to her or the girl who was in an accident that resulted in two deaths and her best friend Anna paralyzed whereas Willow walked away without a scratch. When she is invited to one of her crafting friend's wedding anniversary party and offered a place to stay, she jumps at the chance and lands in a small town called Westin Lake and rooming with Theo - her friend Molly's grandson. Theo was raised by his grandparents, hates people, and has a stutter when he gets nervous. He and Willow could...
