An Aussie cowboy, his feisty ex, and an unprecedented storm. Jett Wayne’s Christmas becomes complicated.

When Paris loses her job days before Christmas, her world crumbles. She returns to her parents’ home in outback Australia where she plans on eating enough food to fall into a coma and sleep straight until New Year’s. But when she unwittingly bumps into her ex on her way home, old feelings awaken.

Picking up Paris from the airport isn’t on Jett Wayne’s to-do list. Neither is dealing with their history or her cranky mood. Shit happens, like his one mistake that drove them apart. When he sees her again, he remembers the vulnerable girl from his hometown who rode horses bareback, who never backed down from an argument, and who stole his love.

When they find themselves stranded during an unprecedented storm, they’re faced with explosive emotions, secrets, and uncontrollable desires. Will Jett gamble on a second chance before Paris leaves him for good this time?

She spun, with bag in hand, and hoofed it down the room, dodging people left and right. She had to get away from him and fast.
“Paris!” Jett called out. “Wait up.”
Oh geez, because clearly the curse hadn’t finished with her, now it threw Jett in her face? What next? He’d invite her to his wedding and announce his wife-to-be was pregnant with twins. God, she shouldn’t care, but that might kill her. She had no boyfriend to gloat about, no job, and was returning to her parents’ place to hide from the world. Yep, her armoury was empty to battle against Jett. But it was more than just gloating or acting as if she was better than him. He was her first boyfriend, her first lover, her first true love. And she accepted long ago that he would always have a piece of her heart, but she sure as hell didn’t want him flaunting his awesome life in front of her. Bad enough everyone in Yalgoo would ask her a million questions, but Jett was a problem on a whole different plane of existence. She planned to stay in her parents’ house the whole visit to avoid bumping into him in town.
Footfalls closed in, and she glanced behind her to find him marching after her with determination, his brows pinched. With a huff, she stopped and whirled to face him. “What do you want?”
“Where are you off to in such a rush? Last time I saw you run this fast was when Ned’s bull escaped the yard and chased you down the street.” Those crystal eyes, crowned with thick brows, could have melted her on the spot, but she wouldn’t let him affect her. He’d done enough of that to last a lifetime.
“If I remember right, it was you who released the animal.”
He laughed, the sound a feather across her skin. How dare he make her feel good in his company? After what he did, he didn’t deserve a second of her time. “Well, it was great to reminisce with you,” she said. “I’ve got to go.”
“And where are you going exactly?”
Paris stormed off and responded without turning around. “Looking for my lift.”
“You’ve just found him.”
Wait! What? She stopped dead in her tracks and turned around, meeting his devilish grin. Oh, great. Thank you, universe, for topping my wonderful Christmas homecoming.

MISS MECHANIC by Emma Hart - Release Day

Two mechanics. One rivalry. She’ll prove she’s as good as she says she is. He’ll prove her place isn’t under the hood. It’s over it.   “Don’t let the bastards get you down.” For twenty-six years, I lived by my daddy’s motto. Which is why “Mechanic Wanted” is all it takes for me to apply for the job at the garage we once owned. And I meet the biggest bastard of them all. Dexter Ryne. Hotter than Hell in July and a firm believer that my place is on reception, taking phone calls and looking pretty. Not getting dirty under the hood of a car. Determined to prove each other wrong, we make a deal. I have three weeks to prove my worth as a mechanic. If I don’t, I’m on telephone duty. If I do, he’ll accept defeat and make my job permanent. Now, all I have to do is fight my attraction to the cocky little… beep. Problem is, an engine isn’t the only thing he knows how to make purr…

“Can I help you?” I asked. He blinked and met my eyes. “What the hell are you doing over there?” I pushed to stand up straight. “Right now?” He capped his water bottle. “Well, honestly… I’m just thinking you’d look better over the hood of that car than under it.” I unhooked the hood and slammed it down, spinning on the balls of my feet. Our eyes met properly. I didn’t like what I saw in his—desire, attraction, need. Which was obviously why a shiver ran down my spine. I cocked a hip, putting my hand on it. “The only time you will ever get me over a hood of a car is if a wiper blade needs changing. So, unless you’re a wiper blade...” Dex pulled his phone from his pocket and started tapping the screen. I blinked. “What are you doing?” He peered up at me through his unfairly thick eyelashes. “Seeing if I can get a wiper blade costume for Halloween.” “I don’t even know how to respond to that.” “You can buy wiper blade glasses.” “What?” He raised his eyebrows. “And a lady here on eBay will hand-make any costume. There’s my Halloween sorted.” I stared at him. “You’re not getting me over anything, Dex. Definitely not a car hood. No matter what you think.” He clutched his chest dramatically. “You wound me.” “Unfortunately not fatally,” I muttered. “You also underestimate me.” “There’s a lot of that going around in this garage.” I put the bottle of coolant away. “Touché.” “Thank you.” “Can I ask you something?” I sighed and turned to face him again. “What?” Earnestly, he asked, “Can you stop wearing those tiny shorts? Or yoga pants that make me want to touch your ass every five minutes?” I looked down at the ripped shorts of my dungarees. “Can you keep your thoughts to yourself? Control yourself, maybe? Not look at me and see someone worth screwing?”

Review: Missing Heiress - Marti Talbott

Missing Heiress (A Jackie Harlan Mystery Book 2)

Review: Missing Heiress - Book #2 Jackie Harlan Mystery - Marti Talbott - November 2013

Nicholas Gladstone has passed away and with his passing comes his estate which totals to about USD 1.6 Million. In his will reading, he has left the whole estate to his granddaughter Georgia James. The thing is though that nobody can find her and it is like she doesn't exist. Now his daughter and her con-artist husband are contesting the will and saying that there is no daughter. It is up to Austin who looked up to Nicholas like a father to find the missing heiress and he now only has two weeks to find her otherwise the judge is going to rule in favor which will not have a great outcome. Austin has hired the assistance of Jackie Harlan and her company to track down Georgia James. They have three options - we have a Georgia James who died in a car crash , The new maid who has been hired to clean Laura's house and knows more about the family that she is leading on and finally the mysterious Maggie - a common and struggling worker who is hanging on by a thread in her job as her boss Nicole likes to fire someone daily for no apparent reason.  Can Jackie find the mysterious heiress? I have to say I quite enjoyed this book as wasn't too sure what to expect at first. I do love my mysteries and the whole idea of a missing heiress or searching for someone with not much to go on as always fascinated me. I am also glad that Laura's husband got what was coming to him as hated him from the get-go. If you are looking for a new author to discover, check out Marti Talbott and her Jackie Harlan Mysteries series.

Review: Dating You/ Hating You - Christina Lauren

Dating You / Hating You

Review: Dating You/ Hating You - Christina Lauren - June 2016

I have had this book sitting on my bookshelf to read for a couple of months and kept um and aahing about it as I felt I wasn't in the right frame of mind to read it.  I finally thought just do it as the Nike logo suggests. I started, and I managed to finish it, I have to admit I did struggle a little with the book as I hate in books when the characters play games with one another. In Dating You/Hating You at least we know what to expect from the title which is probably why I had been putting it off, to be honest. Arriving at a couples party and being the only single can be awkward especially when everyone else is in couples costume, so it could be fate when Carter and Evie both turn up to the party wearing matching outfits as Harry Potter and Hermoine , the other thing is they are the only two singles at the party as Evie's best friend Daryl who is likened to Daryl Hannah cancels on her last minute. They are both in the Hollywood agency business and work for opposing teams, it is a hard enough job in the first place, and Evie has a rule against dating other agents. What will happen though when she feels like changing her mind, only to find out that Carter's company and hers are about to merge and they are both competing for the same job as the only one can stay here, the other will be shipped off to another state's office. What then begins is a Love/Hate relationship from moments of working together and enjoying their friendship and blooming romances to hating one another and playing pranks and sabotaging the other. I did like the ending and how things worked out, so that made reading the story worthwhile in the end.

Blog Tour - When the Snowman Whispered by Kenya Wright

Title: When the Snowman Whispered
By: Kenya Wright
Publication Date: December 23, 2016
Genre: Paranormal Romance

***Warning: This book contains adult language, graphic violence, and explicit sex that may be disturbing for some readers. This book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.***
**A Standalone Novella dealing with Romance and Hoodoo Folk Magic**
When the Snowman whispered, Faith’s marriage had crumbled and the world had already gone insane. Instead of a holly jolly Christmas, the garbage of humanity filled the news. A crazy election and mass shootings. Riots and protests. People screamed at each other on and offline. In 2016, the world had gone mad and, maybe Faith too. Because there was a snowman. And she carved him into a cold, chiseled masterpiece. And he came alive. Maybe due to the mojo bag her mother gave her for Christmas. Maybe due to the human insanity bleeding and spilling its rot onto the earth. Or maybe it was all that hunger, sweltering inside of Faith and yearning to wake up and break free. Regardless, that beautiful snow man whispered. He came alive. And things will never be the same.

5.0 out of 5 stars ~ S. Lowry
A bit of fantasy, a bit of strange like the twilight zone with a bit of magic all tied in a messy bow of fun 4.0 out of 5 stars ~ Steamy IR Reads Original, intrigueing, creative masterpiece It was more to the story than i anticipated. It had the horror of Tananarive Due , the passion and mystery of Game of Thrones, and the realism and cautionary tale of Toni Morrison, with the mysticism of Alice Walker. A good read.
I wish he was real. I shaped him from snow, and he stood tall above me. He was chiseled glass in the winter. A life-sized crystal man, slick and curved in all the right places. I used a step ladder to smooth the top of his head, my knife to line his muscles, and my hands to form his face. Beautiful. I clutched the tiny red leather bag hanging from a string around my neck. A piece of twine tied it closed. A heart-shaped key dangled on its side. Letting go of the bag, I licked my lips and imagined him alive and in front of me. He’s gorgeous. I’d melt all over him. I sculpted for a living, but this had been my best work. The snowman’s flesh appeared like crushed pearls. I slipped my fingers along the smooth line of his body—shivering from the touch of him. He was frozen pecs and a cold bulge at his groin. A frosty masterpiece. I used my earrings for his eyes—oval sapphires surrounded by diamonds. They sparkled in the winter sun. “Those are some expensive eyes, my friend.” I placed the hat on his head.
Kenya Wright wrote her first novel during her third year at UM Law school. She dropped out a month after the release and never looked back. Words are power, and Kenya wants to be the greatest wizard that ever lived. It's an audacity to inspire and teach the healing of love through arousal. It's this crazy idea that love can not only help a reader escape, but the story can also teach the person about being human, while making them laugh, cry, and hot for more sex.

Marcy has never been in love. But when Oliver Dawson walks into her store, she falls head over heels. Unable to shake the feeling that she and Oliver were made for each other, for the first time in her life, the quirky witch considers casting a love spell for herself.

Oliver’s life is turned upside down when he’s shot and almost killed. Even though events haven’t been kind to the sexy police detective, he’s determined to make the best of his situation. But still, nothing could have prepared him for feisty Marcy breaking down his defenses, nor the healing tea that leaves him gagging.

Unconventional and hell-bent on getting her man, the little witch soon weaves her magic and captures his heart. He’s more than willing to give it to her, but when faced with his painful and turbulent past, neither are sure they’ll get their happily ever after.

I stood up and walked around the desk, avoiding the corners and the inevitable bruises I always got when around tables, to come and hold on to his arm. My hand went under his elbow and I felt him quiver at my touch. Was that good or bad? His aura was clean, so I guessed good. “I actually met Dory on my way here. She knows I’m your escort today.” Somehow the word escort tickled my funny bone, and I giggled. “Not that kind though.”
Oliver looked at me quizzically at first and then chuckled along with me. We left his office arm in arm and were met with dozens of curious eyes and smiles. Either Oliver was a very popular character in the precinct or these people really liked my quirky looks. Feeling strangely self-conscious, I steered him through the main room out the front door and let out a sigh of relief when the cold air hit me straight in the face.
“Something wrong?” The detective seemed acutely aware of my changing mood.
“We got a lot of strange looks on the way out.” There was no reason to hide it from him. “I’m used to being stared at, but that was unsettling.”
To my surprise, he laughed. “Cops are a protective bunch. Ever since my injury they have been like mother hens watching over me, making sure I have all I need, that I am not depressed… a little overwhelming at times, but they mean well.” He let out a loud chuckle. “It’s a true miracle that I’m not round like a ball with the sheer quantity of donuts and other baked goods they make me eat every day.”
I stared at him, guiltily scanning his fantastic body from head to toe. “You don’t look any worse for the wear.” I bit my tongue but it was too late; it was out.
“Ms. Spellman! Are you checking me out?” For a blind man, he sure could see a bit too well. My lusty tone must have given me away. I blushed and shoved my polka-dot-rimmed glasses up my nose.
Opting for the truth rather than trying to blunder my way out of an embarrassing situation, I squeezed his elbow tighter. “Well, it’s not my fault that you are a fine specimen of the male species.  Shame on you! Making us all swoon over you.”
