Accidental Knight by Nicole Snow blitz with Xpresso Book Tours.

Accidental Knight
Nicole Snow
Publication date: May 28th 2019
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

Accidentally wed to a man I’ve never met…
I inherited a freaking husband.
Grandpa’s will was a shocker: huge fortune, gorgeous ranch, and the best horse ever.
The fine print? Marrying Mr. Grump-alicious.
The man who’s supposed to protect me from…what, exactly?
That’s what I hope to find out if Drake Larkin ever talks.

I know what I’m in for the first time his glance tears me open.
A broody enigma who’s large and in charge.
A mute who curls my toes when he barks a few words.
A silly, shameful, is-this-real-life crush I can’t afford.

Did I mention our pretend marriage-rodeo lasts six damn months?
Long enough to teach my heart cartwheels.
Time enough to seal this madness with a kiss.
Insane enough for secrets to slip – and sting.

Grandpa’s last wishes scare me. So do Drake’s real motives.
But it’s my beast of a “husband” who makes ridiculous seem right.
Have I found my knight?
Does love have a prayer when life throws us a dragon?

From Wall Street Journal bestselling author Nicole Snow – a mistake meant to be. One moody alpha slayer gives his all to rustle up the damsel of his dreams. Full length romance novel with a heartwarming Happily Ever After.
EXCERPT:
(Bella)
“You aren’t going nowhere till I see how bad that knee is,” he rumbles. “Shit. If I’d known outside it was bleeding so bad, I’d have carried you in.”
Peachy. Another image I don’t need, being flung over Drake’s wall of a shoulder like this is some kind of crazy western romance novel or something.
He would have to say something like that, wouldn’t he? Kick this whole awkward attraction thing into overdrive.
I shake my head too fast. “Come on, it’s not that bad. Barely hurts. I’m sure it’s like my arms. The blood makes it look worse than it is.”
“Really?”
I nod.
“So where’s the blood coming from that’s dripping on your sock?”
“What?” I lean forward to see.
It’s the only ruse, the only opening, he needs. Taking advantage of my movement, he lifts me up in one quick jerk.
Pain flares up my leg, into my thigh, and down again into my shin. I suck in a breath to counter it and to keep from squealing.
“Barely hurting now?” he says.
“Screw you,” I snap. It hurts, honestly. Stings so bad I can’t even afford to kick him where it counts.
“Not today, darlin’. No time for sexy business.”
Oh. My. God.
My other knee almost gives out. It’s mostly Drake propping me up, running his hands up my legs, and then…then we’re doing this.
“Hold on to the table so I can unbutton your jeans.”
I reach for it, all right, because that sentence nearly destroys what’s left of my poor sanity.
Thankfully, an iota of common sense prevails. “I’m not that helpless! I’ll unbutton them myself.”
“Go ahead. Unzip, too. Then push them down.”
“I don’t need step by step instructions!” I almost shout it.
Other parts of me are far too well aware how close he’s standing next to me.
How his hands feel on my waist, supposedly to steady me.
How I’m about to drop my jeans, and be standing here, in front of this total stranger I’m married to, wearing next to nothing.
The shine in his eyes says he’s enjoying this. Of-freaking-course he is.
It can’t be that bad, can it?
Maybe I can even have some fun, leave him with a lovely view he’ll never see again. Of all my ass-sets, I know what men like best, even if I’m still a hopeless virgin.
Deviancy strikes. I’ve worn less at the beach.
“Okay,” I whisper.

“ARE YOU CRAZY?” My mum was not known for subtlety. She was also one of the few women left on the planet who wore giant rollers at night. She looked like a weird cartoonish character as she followed me around the house. Gesturing frantically, a telltale sign of her Italian ancestry, she almost crashed into my back when I suddenly stopped by the bed.
“Mum, I’m going and that’s that.” I dropped the pile of sweaters I was carrying into the suitcase on top of the bed. “It’s an amazing opportunity, a dream come true. Nothing you can tell me will change my mind.”
“But Scotland? Why so far? Couldn’t you just open a bookstore here in good old Australia?” I turned around to pick up some more clothes, and Mum blocked me in a move that would put a rugby player to shame. “It’s because of Kyle, isn’t it?”
I evaded her and managed to reach the dresser. “I couldn’t care less what Kyle does or does not do. If he chooses to ruin his life by marrying that bitch, it’s his prerogative. Life goes on.” Even if my heart was crushed into a powder and blown into the winds. “He made his choice. Now I’m making mine.”
Mum was not going to give up easily. “But you’ve been best friends since you were little. And what happened between you and Mia? You were such good friends.” How could she be so clueless?
In anger, I turned around so fast I almost knocked her off her feet. “Don’t be daft, Mum. Mia and I have never, ever been friends. Ever.” I enunciated each sound for effect. “I’ve hated her with a passion from the moment I first met her, and the sentiment is totally mutual.” My mum blinked and stumbled backward just enough for me to realize how shocked she was. “She’s been trying to outdo me forever, and she has won this war—she got Kyle. If he’s dumb enough to marry her, then they deserve each other.”
With pain and frustration boiling in my chest, I plopped myself on the edge of the bed and burst out crying. Damn! This was the last thing I wanted to do. But the tears wouldn’t be denied. They kept forcing their way out until they poured like a salty waterfall over my cheeks.
My mother sat next to me and slid an arm over my shoulders. “I’m so sorry, honey. I had no idea.” She patted my back with her usual awkwardness. She had never been very good in situations like this, one of the reasons I didn’t usually confide in her. “What’s wrong with Mia? She always seemed like a nice girl.”
I swore I heard a bone crack when I snapped up my head. “She’s a psychotic, manipulative bitch who will do anything to get her way. Everybody knows that except her parents, Kyle, and apparently you and Dad.” She blinked in dismay. “I’m going to Scotland, Mum. There is nothing left for me here.” I realized I was being cruel to her. After all, I was leaving my parents behind, but at that moment I was also furious at them. How could they both be so blind to believe that devil’s spawn was my friend? It would have been funny if it wasn’t so tragically sad.

The Betrayer
Rebecca E. Neely
(Crossing Realms #3)
Genres: Adult, Paranormal, Romance

With the Second Rebellion raging in the city, Curtis Geary, the Keepers’ tech guru, receives a Compulsion for Jordan, a Betrayer ousted by her brood and left for dead. His orders? Obtain information from her that can save his clan—before it’s too late. Plunged into a war zone, cut off from his clan, Curtis quickly discovers this woman is no ordinary Betrayer. Not only does his Vitality energy inexplicably save her life, she may be the missing link in the Keepers’ quest to restore Similitude—the Betrayers’ manufactured weapon deadly to Keepers.
Despised by her own brood, Jordan’s mysterious ability and a wicked set of street smarts have kept her alive—along with the havoc she’s been forced to wreak on humans as a means of creating dark energy. Against his better judgement, Curtis is helplessly drawn to this enigma of a woman, who defies the logic of his trusty computers.
Despite a lifetime of mistrust and her soldier’s survival instincts, Jordan can’t help falling for this at times awkward but genuine man who offers her what she’s always yearned for—love and an opportunity for a better life. But in a race against time and a brood master hell-bent on destruction, love and loyalty will come under fire—within the brood and the clan.
Can Jordan find the courage to embrace her future and find love? Or will she betray the clan and herself as the Keepers wage what may be their final battle to save the human race?

Review: The Starter Wife - Nina Laurin

The Starter Wife

Review: The Starter Wife - Nina Laurin - June 2019
Having read Nina Laurin's previous books, when I saw The Starter Wife pop up for reading/review on NetGalley. It was one I was requesting as I have loved her previous books with their twists and turns. The Starter Wife which seems to be a theme lately for psychological thrillers from Verity by Colleen Hoover to The Wives by Tarryn Fisher and The Third Mrs. Durst by Ann Agguire. In The Starter Wife by Nina Laurin, we have a scene in a diner which feels like an obsessive stalker romance, and then the novel jumps to our main characters who are happily married or so it seems. The female character Claire is about twenty years younger; than her husband. Her husband is a professor at the local college, while she is a stay at home wife trying to write the next best thing. During the book, our main character, Claire, gets a strange phone call asking her where it is? This is just after she tries to sell a painting created by Colleen Westcott, her husband's first wife. After a bit of research, Claire discovers that her husband was suspected of killing his first wife. In the middle of the book, strange things are happening to Claire, and she is starting to convince herself that it's a matter of time before she is gotten rid of too like yesterday's trash. Can Claire find evidence that her husband killed his first wife before she is next? In the third part of the book, Claire's past comes to light and OMG this is where it got exciting and all the major twists and turns and then I did not see that coming parts started to happen.

Well Suited (Red Lipstick Coalition, #4)

Review: Well Suited - Book #4 Red Lipstick Coalition Series - Staci Hart  - April 2019
With the other three housemates all settled into their relationships, we are left with one more Katherine Lawson, aka Kat. Out of all the characters her and Amelia were my favorite two, probably due to their careers as Katherine is a librarian at the New York Public Library which when I visited New York, we did stop in and have a look and since it was also raining. I can say that I danced on their steps with my purple umbrella and have a photo to prove it. During Amelia's wedding to Thomas, Katherine got quite cozy with his twin brother Theo and mixing that with alcohol led them to have a one night stand. This has resulted in Katherine discovering that she is pregnant with Theo's baby. Ever the scientist and cynical one as facts are all that matter to her, she confronts Theo with the situation, just to let him know where he stands and what is happening. She isn't expecting anything in return. Theo, on the other hand, is ecstatic about becoming a father and wants to do everything in his power to have not only Katherine in his life but also the baby and offers up the idea of co-habiting. At first, she declines, but soon, she relinquishes and takes Theo up on his offer with boundaries and rules put in place, of course. Will Katherine realize that falling in love isn't as airy-fairy as she initially thought as she gets to know Theo and his family? The other part I liked about this book was that we had several scenes of Katherine in her job as a librarian, which, as a fellow librarian, I loved this part.  Well Suited was a tremendous fourth book in the Red Lipstick Coalition series and is definitely worth the read and perfect for all those who identify as a female geek like me in our lives.
