Review: Pink - Suzanne D. Williams

Review: Pink - Suzanne D Williams - April 2015 The Phantom Paragrapher here, and let me tell you about my latest midnight reading adventure... Picture this: it's past 11 PM, I'm doom-scrolling through my Kindle library like it's TikTok, and my brain is doing that thing where it rejects every single book cover that doesn't immediately spark joy. You know the feeling - when life's been a bit chaotic and you just need something quick and easy to reset your reading mojo? That's exactly where I found myself when Pink's cover caught my eye. At a breezy 78 pages, this YA contemporary was exactly what my restless mind ordered. Suzanne D.Williams introduces us to Bridgette "Pink" - though everyone calls her Punk because she's about as far from stereotypical pink princess vibes as you can get. She's got that perfect mix of rebellion and softness that makes teen characters feel real rather than tropey. The setup is classic enemies-to-lovers territory...

Opposites Attract Jacqueline Lee Publication date: May 27th 2021 Genres: Adult, Comedy, Romance Megan is nerdier than all of the characters on The Big Bang Theory combined. But it’s a fabulous form of revenge that the same traits she was tormented for in high school have helped her land her dream job as a science journalist in New York and her dream apartment with fellow nerd, Josh, who is potentially her dream guy. The only problem is Josh’s brother, Brandon, is constantly around blocking any attempts to create a romantic atmosphere. Megan nurses an oversized grudge against jocks due to a past traumatic experience. The fact that Brandon’s a professional football player whose new favorite sport is mocking her only increases her fantasies of feeding him to a giant carnivorous plant. Brandon’s life might look perfect, but he’s got a massive hang-up about his intelligence, a hang-up which is aggravated by all the verbal sparring with Josh’s new roommate. Even worse, it appears ...

VBT# Wallflower - Cookie O'Gorman

Review: Wallflower - Cookie O'Gorman - March 2021 This book had captured my attention as I love those stories of #nerd meets and falls in love with a #jock as it can show that opposites truly do exist and also that you can never judge a person by their looks and that under a plain girl will be the "forever" one and that under pretty looks are "easy girls". For Viola, she inherited her mum's nerdiness rather than her dad's athletic ability and looks. Viola is her mother's daughter and would rather spend her time reading and hanging out with the animals at the shelter. In this book, we see the bullies call Viola "dog girl", I have to admit I didn't like this as it got me a bit confused as I had just last week read a book called "Dog Girl" which was also about an #nerd who worked at a dog shelter and this is also what the bullies called her and this felt too close for my comfort especially also since both books are published b...

Review: The Nerd - Book #5.5 North Woods University Series - J.L Beck and C. Hallman - May 2020 If you are looking for a quick read that sets the setting for the relationship between Blair and Cage then The Nerd is the story for you. This book is a prequel and can be read as a stand-alone. I haven't read any of the other North Wood University series but was still able to understand the story and I do have the rest on my devices to read. This book is your typical Nerd and Jock love story situation. We have our Nerd - Blair who is dragged by her friends to a college frat party and we have Cage - our frat boy and Jock. The pair have a stand-off moment at the party and insults each other, They go their separate ways and Cage still can't stop thinking about Blair - the girl who got away. A few days later, Cage is called to the Coaches' office as he needs to pick his grades up - typical Jock. Blair - the typical nerd ends up being his assigned tutor. Thus be...
