Review: Mother's Instinct - Barbara Abel - Reprinted 2023 Imagine you and your next-door neighbors become the best of friends, so much that you practically live at each other's houses and then you end up getting pregnant at the same time and both have boys who become like brothers and they both have names starting with "M" - Max and Milo. The boys grow up and are inseparable, that is until tragedy happens and one of those boys ends up dying. One family grieves, while the other tries to protect their son and then eventually the parent with the child starts to get paranoid that something might happen to her son, as you know a "Mother's Instinct" is strong. Mother's Instinct was a twisted read that the ending blew me away as I didn't see that coming. Upon more research after finishing the book, I saw that it had been made into a Belgium movie and it's also being made into a US movie starring Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain. Reading the boo...

Review: A Perfect Mother - Jo Crow - February 2020 Scrolling through my Kindle, I didn't know what to read and this one jumped out at me as I figured it would be a thriller which is what I've been enjoying lately. In A Perfect Mother by Jo Crow, Laurie's life is about to come full circle as at the beginning of this book we learn that Laurie's husband Ben has vanished without a trace and her daughter Fay who is only 4 years old has been left home alone. Laurie is worried and calls the police and her mother-in-law but of course, since it hasn't been that long - they are reluctant to do anything and even after 48 hours - they are still convinced Ben was having an affair or had enough of their marriage and walked out on Laurie and Fay. As the book goes along, Laurie's OCD starts coming back as when she was in college, she experienced trauma which developed PTSD and OCD tendencies. During this hard time, Laurie runs into Teddy Jones and eventually his sister Marissa...

Review: Mother's Love - Diana Aleksandrova - November 2021 This very cute illustrated book written by Diana Aleksandrova and Illustrated by Svilen Dimitrov was such a fun read and shows the powerful love of Mothers and their Babies. Each page features a different animal and the way they love their children. At the end of the book to it shares some facts about the different animals and their babies, for example, an Octopus can in a lifetime lay about 100,000 eggs - however not all those eggs will survive and grow into baby octopuses. As I used to work in the library as a Children's and Teens Programme specialist and running toddler time which is a storytime for 0-4 years old. Mother's Love would have been the perfect book to read during a Mother's Day session or a session celebrating Parents especially Mothers or even an Animals session as the pictures and story is adorable. Mother's Love by Diana Aleksandrova is aimed at children aged 3-6 years old. Amazon: h...
