Review: The Good Neighbor - Cathryn Grant - September 2019 Not sure exactly what I was in the mood for, I scrolled through my Kindle and came across The Good Neighbor by Cathryn Grant. The cover captivated me with the pink shoe lying on the road and the idea of a kidnapped child. A Missing Persons story. The story starts with Brittany and her parents moving into a small close-knit suburb, the neighbors don't know much about the family as they stick to themselves and it seems Brittany acts much younger than she is. She seems younger than her 14 years old. One night after being here a couple of weeks, Brittany vanishes and is classed as a missing person. Next door Taylor helps by making a Facebook page running search parties and helping the family with whatever they need. During the time Brittany is missing, a woman Crystal sees the post and is shocked as this is her daughter who was taken from her almost 10 years ago. Crystal contacts Taylor and is first seen as a prank messenger bu...

Review: Cancelled - Farrah Penn

Review: Cancelled - Farrah Penn - March 2024 You ever get in those moods where you want to read something, but the books you keep picking up, just don't hold your interest, and then wham bam - third time lucky. You find a book that isn't just holding your interest but it's an amazing read and turns out to be a 5-star read. That was me on Saturday morning with Cancelled by Farrah Penn. I first tried a couple of thrillers on the Libby App and then clicked on this book and loved it. Imagine the movies Easy A and Saved and you will have Cancelled. The book starts with our main female Brynn being a flirting coach and a bit of a Cyrano De Bergerac as she helps people write the perfect flirting messages and she's great at it too. That is until at a Halloween party, she not only breaks up with her boyfriend but someone has taken a picture of a person in a banana suit giving a guy a BJ. The guy is Duncan who is the boyfriend of Brynn's ex-best friend Lenora. Brynn is innocen...

Review: Everyone is Watching - Heather Gudenkauf

Review: Everyone is Watching - Heather Gudenkauf - March 2024 One of my favorite authors is Heather Gudenkauf as I just love her thrillers. This one was also one of my favorite tropes. A group of people brought together in a game of revenge as they are all connected to the one person who has brought them together. Yet that person isn't revealed till the very last chapter. A new reality TV show is beginning and a group of people have been nominated - these people come from all walks of life and have lived and made mistakes but the enticing promise of winning 10 million dollars as them ticking yes and participating in a series of crazy adventures and dares and winning the challenges - no matter what as in this reality show - if you aren't careful, you could very well end up dead as the producers aren't playing by the rules in this game. Who has set up the game and what is their reason for watching all the players suffering? Everyone is Watching gives readers an insight into t...

Review: Dark Corners - Megan Goldin

Review: Dark Corners - Book #2 Rachel Krall Series - Megan Goldin - August 2023 We all have those favorite authors who every time they release a book, we know we will read it and enjoy it which is a bonus. For me, one of those authors is Australian author Megan Goldin. After finishing Dark Corners, I now have read all of her books to date - so hurry up Megan, you need to write a new one LOL :). Dark Corners is taken from a quote in the book that you have to watch those dark corners as that's where monsters lie and even more so they can be anywhere. The person who sits next to you on the bus, the person who lives next door to you, or even a family friend. Dark Corners takes Rachel across to the local prison in Florida as her name has come up in an investigation with prisoner Terrence Bailey. He has only had one visitor and now she is missing before she left she was told to find Rachel Krall. Rachel has never heard of either but discovers a voicemail from the missing social media i...

Review: Influencer Island - Kyle Rutkin

Review: Influencer Island - She Died Famous Universe - Kyle Rutkin - July 2022 As I started reading this book, I was reminded of an earlier book and I had to flick through my reviews to remind me as the cover with the gold blindfold and then one of the early characters named Kelly Trozzo sounded very familiar. As I scrolled through, I came across the book I had been thinking about "She Died Famous" and noticed there was a connection. Influencer Island is set in the same universe as She Died Famous and is set after the book. In this book, we meet Cal - a podcaster and a journalist who is obsessed with a famous painter who rivals Banksy - Wyatt James. However, this painter takes his painting to the extreme as everyone he paints is dead. This book starts with a crazy competition that entices Influencers with a chance to become famous on an exclusive island. The thing though that what these influencers don't realise is that if they fail at a challenge, then death is the pun...

Review: Have You Seen My Sister? By Kirsty McKay

Review: Have You Seen My Sister? - Kirsty McKay - September 2023 This cover was amazing and drew my attention to reading it on the Libby App. The book starts with Esme and Gaia Gill hanging out at a party as the family is spending their last night in the snow before Gaia goes off to college and the rest of her family heads back to Boston. That night though only one of the sisters comes home, the other ends up as a missing person. Unfortunately for Esme, she can't quite remember what time she got home or when she last saw her sister as she suffers from dyscalculia, this part I resonated with as had struggled with numbers, spatial awareness, and coordination. It wasn't until recently that I learned about this disorder and realized that I have a form of it and it all made sense. As the family tries to retrace Gaia's steps the night before, they notice that Craig is also missing and friends/family end up putting the pieces together. But what happens when they find Craig left f...
