Review: Little Girl Vanished - Denise Grover Swank

Review: Little Girl Vanished - Book #1 Harper Adams Series - Denise Grover Swank -April 2023

I have found the last couple of months a hard reading time, despite the number of books I have read. Every time I pick up a book, I often have a DNF feeling and it does not grab me. The past few months, I have felt that I have had more DNFs than books read. In these moods, I tend to lean towards titles that I know I will hopefully enjoy, and more often these are thriller-orientated or authors I know I have enjoyed their previous books. Little Girl Vanished by Denise Grover Swank ticked several of my boxes including an author I enjoy, an abduction, and a connection to a past crime/case. In Little Girl Vanished, Harper Adams has returned home to her childhood town after being forced out of the police job she was a detective. There is a big conspiracy at work and somehow Harper found herself in the middle of it and blacklisted. Her hometown brings back some bad memories as it is also the place where her sister was kidnapped and murdered, a case that Harper believes still to this day that the police stuffed up. What happens though when she's only a few days back and the daughter of her sister's best friend Vanessa goes missing and a red ribbon is left outside the window? In Harper's sisters’ case - a red ribbon was also left behind at the scene. Are the two cases connected or is something darker happening in the small town especially since Vanessa's husband is someone who easily makes enemies? Can Harper use her skills as a former detective to try and find Vanessa's daughter as it looks like the police have labeled this a runaway case?  I enjoyed this one and looking forward to more Harper Adams adventures.
