Review: Neon Gods - Katee Robert
Review: Neon Gods - Book #1 Dark Olympus Series - Katee Robert - June 2021
For as long as Persephone can remember, the Hades statue has always been covered by a dark shroud and there have been rumors that the Hades lineage and name died out and that he is nothing but a dark myth and legend told to the generations of Gods and Goddesses and people of Dark Olympus to scare them. Persephone was one of those people who believed that but she also had this slight obsession with finding out the truth about Hades. Soon though her life is about to direct her right into the path of Hades and his underworld. When Demeter sets Persephone up at a party as Zeus's new bride and inheriting the title Hera - Persephone freaks and dashes away, she needs to be anywhere but here and she finds herself crossing the River Styx right into the arms of Hades. How can this be? How can Hades still exist and why is he here and never showing his face around events of the Dark Olympus and The esteemed Thirteen? Persephone can't go back to Zeus as she knows this will be the end of her life as his previous three wives have died under mysterious circumstances. As Hades and Persephone spend time together, she puts forward a proposal to Hades to have them fake-married as she needs to buy three months till she has access to her trust fund and can escape Olympus. As the two of course spend time together, Persephone and Hades have sparks fly and Persephone helps soften Hades's heart and Hades helps Persephone explore her dark sexuality side. There are so many retellings of Hades and Persephone that often their tale is overtold in my mind, but I do like how Katee Robert writes her Greek Gods and Goddess characters as you can't help but fall in love with her series.
