Review: Come Back - J.A Huss (Dirty, Dark and Deadly)

 

Review: Come Back - Book #2 Dirty, Dark and Deadly Series - J.A Huss - July 2014 

At the end of Book #1 Come , we read as Harper packed up and fled the beach scene and headed off to hide from those who had been sent to hunt her down. During this time, James has been called in to do a favour for his friend Merc - to pick up a package and deliver it to him. When James arrives, he discovers that the package is in fact a fourteen year old girl whom is now in Merc's care as Merc killed her father and now she is alone. The story starts mainly off with James and Sasha and their back and forth banter as he doesn't really want to be responsible for her , but as a favour he must. To be completely honest, he just wants to get back to Harper. Meanwhile Harper has recieved some belongings and inside is her pink Hello Kitty diary - the one that disappeared on her sixth birthday, inside it for every year is a letter to her from Six aka James and as she gets older - she reads the strong hate that he has for her. We later discover that Harper was sold as a child to an older man - that man what I gathered was possibly James. In Come Back , we also discover the truth of what Harper is capable of if pushed and how she came to be on the run. It turns out though that no-one is safe as someone is hunting down the assassins and now people who James thought were dead are in fact alive and kicking.  What was fascinating about this book was the introduction to Ford and his life - those who have read J.A Huss's other series will remember Ford from the series Rook and Ronin. After the Rook and Ronin series ended , remember Ford up and left and went to start his new life -only to meet a woman and a baby stranded and we discovered in the book Ford , that the women's Navy Husband Tony had been killed. In Come Back , we have our light shining on the backstory of Tony , Ford and Ashleigh/Amber's story. Also we as readers are left with the burning questions of What happened to Nick and What will become of James and Harper ?
