Review: Prep School Confidential - Kara Thomas

Review: Prep School Confidential - Book #1 Prep School Series - Kara Taylor - July 2013
One of my favorite tropes are boarding school novels and I love my YA thrillers too. In Prep School Confidential by Kara Thomas, we meet Anne Dowling who was at her old school the Queen Bee, and then she ended up having to go to a boarding school as her booty call and she ended up accidentally setting the curtains in their school auditorium on fire. Now Anne has been shipped off to boarding school in Boston. At the school, she will make new friends including her new roommate Isabella aka Izzy. Things will go great for the first week and then tragedy strikes and Izzy is found dead on the school campus in the woods. Soon rumors of drugs and dodginess will start flying around and the school is only concerned with covering it up. Anne on the other hand is determined to find out who killed her new best friend and help solve the crime as she can't just sit there doing nothing like everyone else. During the investigation, Anne will uncover some dark secrets that several students and teachers would kill to have quiet. Did Izzy find out one of these secrets and that's what killed her? I enjoyed this book and we also caught a glimpse into another mystery where over 30 years ago another student named Matthew Weaver disappeared without a trace. If you love spies like Veronica Mars with a twist of Gossip Girl Elite world, then Kara Thomas's YA series "Prep School Confidential" is the series for you. I am now looking forward to reading Books #2 and #3 in this series and seeing what directions Kara Thomas takes.
