Review: You Can't Hide - Emily Shiner
Review: You Can't Hide - Emily Shiner - February 2023
As I go along my journey to clear my Kindle, I have been coming across books that I have had sitting there for a wee while some have been DNFs and others have been good reads like Emily Shiner's You Can't Hide. This book starts with Lizzy walking alongside the road as her car breaks down. She ends up getting a ride eventually with the new doctor in town - Zach. The pair start a relationship and eventually get married, however, Lizzy is about to discover that her perfect man is anything but perfect, and now she has found herself in a toxic relationship. When things get hard and it looks like she is stuck in an ultimatum of either saving herself or being killed? Can Lizzy escape this relationship? In the alternate chapters is another character's story Beth who has arrived at a snowy cabin with her husband Ian. Things aren't quite what it seems as when they arrive at the cabin, there is a dead deer and it looks like someone has been living there. Now the couple are snowed in with a random person in the woods. I did like this book and how it connected, but I did at first get a bit confused with the two characters Lizzy and Beth's stories, and wondered how they connected - which of course they did at the end eventually. I am now looking forward to reading the rest of Emily Shiner's books as they were easy thrillers to get stuck into and reminded me a bit of authors like Freida McFadden and Kiersten Modglin.
