Blog tour for Jonathan Decker "250 Great Movies for Latter-day Families"‏

Review : 250 Great Movies for Latter-Day Families - Jonathan Decker - September 2013

I am not one normally to review Non-Fiction books on my blog and especially not in Virtual Book Tours as I have always been a fictionista girl . However every now and again, a non-fiction query will arrive in The Phantom Paragrapher's mailbox and I think to myself hmmm, this looks like me. One of my other favourite things to do is watch alot of movies and TV Shows and coming from a Christian perspective, I am not too keen on movies with lots of swearing and violence etc. That's not to say I don't watch some of the violent-ish movies as I love Horrors.  However, I have met many Christian families who like to restrict the viewing to be in league with their religious beliefs. This is the perfect book for them , though it is written from the perspective of a Latter-Day saint and does read for Latter-Day families . It is the perfect movie guide for all religious families. Each page contains the title of a movie and is in alphabetical order , it also contains the year the movie was released so there are some early day to more recent flicks listed. Each movie is then provided with a Synopsis and a Grade e.g "Wreck It-Ralph is a 2012 movie and has a Grade A- . Then it talks about the content overview so using Wreck It Ralph - " Wreck-It-Ralph is rated PG. It has no language or sexuality. There are a few childishly crude jokes and instances of name-calling ("booger-face," etc.), as well as mild video-game-related violence. Then to conclude it finishes off with the Message that the movie discusses and where to further go to talk about it and how you can bring God's word into the movie watching scene. E.g "No matter who you are or what you've done, it's never too late to change and do what's right (Alma 26:17-22). "
Jonathan Decker's guide to 250 Great Movies for Latter-Day Families is a book all movie loving families should have a copy on their bookshelf and if you are movie aficionados like myself then you will be going through the book to discover new movies that you can watch and enjoy.
