Review: #Murdertrending - Gretchen McNeil

#Murdertrending (MurderTrending, #1)

Review: #Murdertrending - Book #1 MurderTrending Series - Gretchen McNeil - August 2018
What do you get when you have a prison and people love reality TV? You get #MurderTrending at Alcatraz 2.0.  Alcatraz 2.0 is the prisons reserved for the toughest of criminals. It's a show where the prisoners are voted off and are killed off in some different ways by different serial killers.  Dee Guerrera has been charged for the murder of her stepsister, which of course she didn't do. Now she must survive on the island to prove her innocence and discover who killed her stepsister who unlike Dee was a major fan of the show. Strange things are happening on the island though as the hunters are being killed or destroyed, her newfound friends are disappearing, and strange clues to Dee's past and her kidnapping as a child are appearing. Has this got something to do with what Dee went through as a child with her friend Kimmie? I was in two minds about this book as it started with hunger games like the premise but then started to head off track and get a little confusing. I am now curious to read Book #2 which is a spin-off of this series and focuses on Molly Mauler's real identity and her "real family." If you love YA novels, mystery and Reality TV - then Gretchen McNeil's series #Murdertrending is the reads for you.
