Review: One - Jane Blythe

One (Count to Ten #1)

Review: One - Book #1 Count to Ten Series - Jane Blythe - January 2016

Imagine your whole family has been slaughtered and you wake up to find yourself in handcuffs and accused of the crime, that is what happened to Annabelle Englewood. Her family has been brutally murdered.  During the book, a few more families will have this happen to them and in each case - one member of the family will be left alive while the others suffered tremendously. Jane Blythe's book is not one for the faint-hearted, and if you are looking for a cozy mystery, then this isn't for you. The murders in this book are quite horrific and graphical. In this book, it's a race against the time as Detective Romeo Xavier Montague is falling for Annabelle and if he's not careful, then he may lose her to the killer as she was a prize for him. This book kept me guessing until the end as it had two potential killers and when the real one was revealed, I have to admit I didn't see that coming. If you are looking for an excellent gruesome mystery series to begin, then check out Book #1 of the Count to Ten Series. The other good thing about this series is that each book is only 12-15 chapters which makes it a quick read and can be read as a stand-alone story.
