VBT# Woman Missing - Kaelin Wennerberg

VBT# Woman Missing - Kaelin Wennerberg - August 2025
Have you ever read a book that completely frustrates you, and then you find yourself yelling "Nooooooooo!" as you turn the last page? That was absolutely me with Woman Missing, and honestly, I'm still kicking myself because it's been a few weeks since I finished it and I cannot for the life of me remember the main character's name. Yet somehow I can recall every other character and plot twist with crystal clarity. (Let's call our protagonist "J" for the sake of this review – don't judge me!)
Wennerberg throws us straight into chaos from page one. J is desperately trying to win back her ex, Mikey, when a drunken night ends in absolute tragedy. She gets behind the wheel intoxicated and strikes a man, killing him. But here's where it gets chilling – with his dying breath, he warns her that "they" wouldn't be happy and would come after her. Those ominous words haunted me throughout the entire book.
Fast forward through J's prison sentence to her new life in recovery. She meets Graeme at an AA meeting, and what starts as a promising connection quickly spirals into a nightmare that made my skin crawl. Graeme isn't just some random guy – he's connected to the family of the man she killed, and this family has a very dark hobby: kidnapping and murder.
The real psychological punch comes when J finds herself caged alongside Eva, her high school nemesis. Kaelin Wennerberg masterfully weaves their bitter history into the present danger, creating this claustrophobic tension that had me reading with sweaty palms. These two women, who once battled for social supremacy as teenagers, now must decide whether to work together for survival or let old grudges seal their fate.
What frustrated me most (in the best way possible) was how Kaelin Wennerberg kept pulling the rug out from under me. Just when I thought I understood the dynamics between J and Eva, another layer of their twisted past would emerge. The author has this cruel talent for making you root for characters who make absolutely terrible decisions.
The ending absolutely destroyed me – hence the "Nooooooooo!" moment. Without spoiling anything, let's just say that sometimes revenge and destiny have their own plans, regardless of what we readers desperately want to happen.
Woman Missing is a dark, twisted psychological thriller that will stick with you long after you've finished it. Fair warning: you might find yourself equally frustrated and completely addicted.

Thank you so much for this fab review and support on the tour x
