Nobody's Victim: Fighting Psychos, Stalkers, Pervs, and Trolls

Review: Nobody's Victim - Carrie Goldberg - August 2019

Going through a recent phase of crime non-fiction and serial killers. I came across this book "Nobody's Victim" by Carrie Goldberg. I have always had a fascination with reading novels about stalkers and trolls and discovering the dark side of the internet. As you hear stories of the dangers of things like internet dating and trolls. As there have been a few stories of authors attacking readers over comments and then there is doxxing which has been turned deadly with swatting. With the development of the internet and social media, I am sure those who created it never saw this side happening and crimes like murder, rape, and assault are dangerous and scary but those criminals are likely to be charged. When the crime is done virtually and can fall into harassment, sadly it is a lot harder for the criminals to be charged and that is where lawyer Carrie Goldberg comes in. After one of her internet dating adventures turned into a stalker and a psycho and how she felt so unsupported, she left her job and started her firm to help protect those females and males too that have fallen prey to stalkers, psychos, trolls and pervs. What also made it scary is how it can ruin your life in one simple click. Nobody's Victim by Carrie Goldberg features several different cases, some will blow your mind that the lengths that some people will go to hurt their victims. It was full-on scary that the internet can be used to create fake identities, personas, and how easily with a click of a button - someone's whole life can be deleted and ruined, and sadly the victims don't have that support base. Nobody's Victim by Carrie Goldberg was an eye-opener to the dark underbelly of the internet and it tugged at my heartstrings as I read some of the cases and things that the victims went through, was horrifying.
