How to Stay Positive When the World Has Got You Down
No matter who you are, there are bound to be days every now and then when the world knocks you down and you feel as though you can’t get up.  It’s no secret that life is tough, but whatever is it that you are going through is bound to pass—and it will pass even faster when you put on your best smile and embrace a positive attitude.  Despite how difficult it may be to do that, here are some tips how:
Determine what could be fixed.  Sure, you may be overwhelmed and feeling like the whole universe is waging a war against you; but in order to get out of the funk you’re in, you’ve got to take a step back and evaluate what it is exactly that’s got you feeling so blue.  Once you are aware of the problem, you can take the necessary steps in order to remedy it and get back to feeling like your old self in no time at all!
Be thankful for what you have.  When troubles are weighing heavy on your shoulders, it’s easy to focus on the parts of your life that are far from happy.  You often find yourself asking, “why me?” and dwelling on only the problems.  Cut this out!  Chances are that when you put things into perspective, you have it better than many others out there.  So instead of harping on the downside of everything, count your blessings and reflect on the parts of your life that are pretty awesome.
Motivate yourself.  If you’re struggling with putting on a happy face during a rough point in your existence, get motived with the things in your life that inspire happiness within you.  Maybe it’s your job, exercising, spending time with people you love, or a personal hobby.  Even leaving yourself post-it notes with motivational messages or quotes can be encouraging when you need it.
Talk to someone.  Of course you are down and probably don’t want to burden others with the issues that are plaguing you…but keeping things bottled up isn’t going to help.  Confide in someone whom you trust to give you their honest input, be there to listen and provide a sturdy shoulder on which you can lean during your time of need.  Also, never be ashamed of seeking the professional help of a therapist or counselor.  Sometimes, all it takes to feel better is to simply talk about what’s bothering you.
Be kind to others.  It’s no doubt you’re feeling like negative a million bucks when something negative is going on—but remember that you aren’t the only one in this seemingly cold, cruel world who is facing a hardship.  Be sure to keep this in mind and even when it’s difficult, do your best to put a smile on your face and be kind to the people around you.  You never know when a smile could be all that another person needs to brighten their day—and soon enough, you are bound to start feeling the positivity that you are exuding to others and your days are sure to brighter as well.
